Hello,

When I insert a Music CD, when I select a wav file from the hard drive, visit YouTube I get no audio. I rarely go online with computer but I need to see a Video tutorial while let’s say Cubase is open.

My setup:
Windows 7 64 bit
Firebox
Internet wired, no Wi-Fi
Kurzweil ExpressionMate

Recent changes or additions:
Added Asio4all because iconnectMIDI2+ required it to work
iconnectMIDI2+
Installed Lemur Editor
iPad as a mdi controller
Shuttle Pro2

The Audio for all the DAW’s I have tried works fine.I understand that only that the audio form one DAW will work at a time. When I reboot and first thing I do is go to YouTube I get the video but no audio. If I recall correctly when I used the PreSonus Firebox driver I could also watch and hear YouTube videos.

I spent some time on Google and at the Asio4All forum http://www.asio4all.com/ in the search to remedy the problem but here I am once again asking for help from the very helpful crew at KVR.

Get a decent audio interface that can mix ASIO, WDM & MME and doesn't require Asio4All

To be able to use IconnectMIDI2+
http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI2plus
it requires to use Asio4All. In the Asio4All driver the Firebox driver is included somehow.

All the audio works fine on the DAW’s. When I want to see a video on YouTube I have video but no audio. Again no audio in QuickTime from a music CD. No audio when I attempt to play a wav file.

Is asio4All the reason why I have this issue?

Are you saying that the Presonus Firebox is not a a decent audio interface. Sorry for misunderstanding your suggestion.

The problem will most likely be in your Sound Settings (in control panel) but without knowing what your settings are we are stabbing in the dark. Also check you settings in your browser. They could be wrong and not accessing the Firebox.

The Firebox driver is a different driver than Asio4All. I've had problems in the past with A4L and dumped it.

Aside from the Iconnect you should be able to run everything through the Firebox drivers, depending on your settings.

Revisit your settings and make sure all is set up correctly and you will likely find the problem.

That should be easy enough to determine, not? Remove it & test... Whenever you have a problem in a complex situation, try to make it as simple as possible and then test. Only after that test was succesful, add more components until it fails.

From memory, Asio4All only becomes active when a host requires it. So if you have no audio from your internet browser, even when you just booted and Cubase wat not opened, first check what device is the default one in the Windows Control Panel for sounds etc.

Maybe as an interface it is decent. But if it cannot mix Asio & WDM audio, I'd say that's a major shortcoming in the driver design.

I tried a fresh reboot and still I could not get audio from YouTnbe nor the audio from an Audio CD.

I found similar thread here at KVR http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7&t=404618 . Golemus has a similar problem. I read the thread but unless I missed something I did not find a solution to my problem.

I use iConnectMIDI2+ and must use Asio4ALL. All works fine. Well I have yet to get my audio from the iPad to go to my Windows 7 Cubase 7.5 of other DAW, but this may be another thread to discuss this problem.

I have a PCI audio card WaveTerminal 192x and lucky for me there is a W7 74bit driver available. Now having two audio devices the PreSonus firewire Firebox and the WaveTerminal 192x will allow me to have audio in the DAW and YouTube?

A DAW with one audio device and YouTube with the other.
Waveterminal http://www.esi-audio.com/products/wt192x/
PreSonus Firebox http://www.presonus.com/products/firebox

Which audio device will be better to use for the DAW and which for YouTube, Media Player etc. Is there a downside to having two audio devices in my music PC?

This link http://mtippach.proboards.com/thread/2293 may cover my situation but do not undersand the issues discussed.

What I usually do, is use the onboard audio as the Windows Default Audio device (so that's YouTube, mp3 players, etc, quality is decent enough for that.) Then the "pro" interface is completely free for ASIO duties. I have a mixer that receives these both and sends it to the monitors, but you can connect the line out of onboard audio to (one of) the inputs of the "pro" interface, and engage realtime direct monitoring. Problem solved me thinks...

I had disabled the onboard Realtek audio in the Control Panel as I had read somewhere that it is illegal, unethical, immoral and sinful  when doing audio work to have it enabled. Ok so I am going to hell :scared:  when I die but meanwhile I have my Youtube audio and Cubase audio working.

It was a trial and error process as I am not knowledgeable of the routing of the audio signal. Well it was mostly error but in the end it worked!

In the Windows Sound Window I disabled everything except for the Speakers, Realtek and made it the default device. I also enabled the iConnectMIDI2+ audio and hope this helps to get audio to and from the iPad which has not yet happened. Now I need to go back to the control panel as I enabled many devices needlessly in the attempt to get the audio to work properly.

Any more suggestions?

I use the KA6 but had the same problem. I solved it by having the same sample rate and possibly the same bit depth (can't check right now as I'm at work) in both Windows and my host.
