I hear you McLilith - and a few years back I did go on a search with a band of SY lovers to get these 'donors' you mention. But everywhere that 'had them' didn't anymore, and anywhere that had something 'similar' - we were all just to distrusting to invest the time and money on a 'hit and miss' venture. If it was 'local' - maybe? But I do hand it to Yamaha for their EX5's that they use a much more robust LCD, generic PC Floppy Drive, and better Bank Buttons.
As for Forever Sun's problem - I don't think they're 'generic' that can be easily replaced? Unless another SY77 is bought and disected? The SY's were slick machines, but the last of the 'exclusive parts' line (thankfully).
And yes, I agree - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

I'm way too inept at opening anything electronic, let alone having to repair...McLilith wrote:
As for the person with troublesome tactile switches, can't you just replace them instead of cleaning them? Some of these switches are somewhat generic, and can be bought cheaply from different sources--if you only knew which part numbers to cross-reference them to. McLilith
But thanks for the thought.
Sounds like a scene from Blade Runner.and a few years back I did go on a search with a band of SY lovers to get these 'donors' you mention.

Also, it makes no sound for me.
Still, a blast from the past. I remember downloading this 10 years ago or more, and being mesmerized by the VX7 logo graphics when you start it up.
