Spent a bit of time going through presets and skimming through the manual and I am very impressed! This is a great update to an already great synth. So many sound sources and so many ways to shape, modulate, effect and sequence those sounds.

my only complaint is that whiles importing blue v1 fxb banks (via 'load old bank') seems to work just fine, there's no way to import v1 .fxp (if you just load them get no sound, and no 'load old fxp' option) - so I'm having to put all the fxp into banks in v1 and transfer them that way

Pretty disappointed to not have an answer about my wish to upgrade from Blue LE.

I didn't expect more than an 'No you can't', or at best a 'Well you can have off what you paid for LE'.

But nothing.

I was really ready to pull the trigger on this. But I'll cool down now. Shame.

Ah well, saved me a hundred bucks I suppose.

Then again, I guess they must be rushed off their feet with stuff. I'll give it another day or two.

Has somebody tested the demo in Cubase? I'm not 100% sure but I had a crash because of Blue 2 and something was not working with Midi.

My music setup is Mac based, so I took a quick look at the Blue 2 windows demo on a laptop with the demo version of FL Studio. After a while the plugin locked up and I had to restart FL Studio to resolve. Might have been a one-off, haven't been able to replicate.

The Blue 2 website is surprising light on information. Just kind of talks about lots of filters and being able to do FM and subtractive yada, yada, yada.

Straight up, as an FM synth only, how does this compare to FM8. I'm not interested in its subtractive abilities

You sound churlish, and like you are expecting others to do your homework for you.

Did you go as far as looking to the Nam demo that Rob did?

You have heard of some great new synth. The new second coming. But you don't quite know why that is. But you want others to explain it to you. And you don't even ask nicely.

FM. This is so much more than an FM synth. Why compare it to FM8? That is just silly. You aren't interested in its subtractive capabilities? But that is integral to the synth in the main.

Yada yada yada.

If you want an FM only synth, why don't you try to get a DX-7 or something.

You have a really arrogant attitude.

I have no idea what that was all about, but anyways let's move on without derailing things into needless silly attacks...

EDGEK8D, your question was completely normal and reasonable, especially given that there is no demo for Blue II so I'll try to give some thoughts. I think the main difference is the sound. FM8 has a more traditional, DX7 inspired sound. It sounds more "digital" than Blue which has a thicker juicier sound, and can do subtractive well because of the variety of filters and lots of waveforms, waveshaping, pwm and other oscillator shaping functions. FM8 has some cool tricks like the morph square which can morph between entire patches. Blue's new square is really an oscillator cross-fader if I understand correctly, also with an XY mopdulator that can record movements. Blue 2 also has sample content now.

Both good synths with pretty fully featured FM capabilities (especially now that Blue has a fully assignable matrix), just different characters. Might be worth watching as many videos as you can on both.

Codec sees I have 5 posts here, so was thinking of hazing me a bit. I'm just not on this forum much preferring the TONE of others a bit more.

Thanks for your reply. Exactly what I was after. I am pretty experienced with subtractive synthesis. I just don't want to have to buy both of these. I have too many already.

While Blue looks really attractive as a whole, I think I' am going with FM8. For $99 right now, the more traditional FM is what I'm after.

Don't sweat it codec, we all read a post through tinted glasses once in a while I guess. :dog:

Let me try again:

Ummm........guys, if it is okay with you if I might just ask a question? Please except my apologies before you even read. I am not worthy of your opinions as it pertains to to software synthesizers.

Okay, this is boring. Dude...........you see, I try to convey my question or opinion in as few words as possible so as not to waste peoples time with reading. That's what yada, yada, yada means. It's a way of saving people from having to read the next three lines which I know and they know, that they know. I thought it was a rather straight forward question. I honestly think you saw my number of posts and just decided to troll me like a new kid in school. Grow up.

I can listen to demos all day, that has proven a poor indicator of sound really, IMO. Recorded how, with what processing, now at what resolution.....Do my homework? On a software download for less than $200? Just grabbing a few words.

Thanks for the DX rec......I would go TX81Z though.

I want a proper FM, and am not into Papen or NI is all. Didn't mean to steer attention away from Blue II. EDGEK8D: exit stage left

In all seriousness, no hard feelings man. I'm sure you just took it wrong.

I just got Blue 2. Works like a charm in FL. What an update! This thing is a beast and will be getting heavy play from me.
Love the updated fx (also the gated reverb)
Also, CPU usage is VERY do-able.
Thanks Rob and Concrete Fx.
Again, you raise the bar.

Hmmm... Two questions:
1. Is it the same cpu wise? Since everything these days seems to be more cpu intensive under the guise of being more powerful.

2. Will 1 still run after upgrading to 2?

:)
