Hello,
SODDI wrote:I sure hope the manual for 7.5 is more complete than the manual for 7.0.

Call me old fashioned, but I believe that functions like the "ASIO Latency Compensation" button should be indexed and detailed in the manual. It's not. ALL settings should be indexed in the manual. It is a 900+ page document and you can't just stumble around hoping that you run across a reference to setting you're looking for an explanation of.

It's interesting that the phrase "ASIO latency compensation" does not appear in the Steinberg "Knowledge Base" either. But it is a toggle in Cubase.

Steinberg should be embarassed at the state of that manual.
It is in the manual, if you go to page 126 of the PDF.
Right under Recording MIDI.
I discuss this with the manuals department based on another complain of you about another function that was not mentioned on the Index. But it is virtually imposible to have absolutely all the terms used in the operation manual in the Index.
It covers the main and most important subjects.
If you use the search function and type in "ASIO Latency" it will take you directly to this page. It is the first result of the search.
The standard PDF reader has this function.

The search function works pretty well in the manual.
The manual isn't perfect, but I generally manage to find most of the info that I need.
I've certainly come across manuals that are far worse and less comprehensive.

By any chance your MIDI controller is a Novation controller, I have seen that the Automap wrapper is causing performance issues.

On the other hand a fresh re-install might be a good idea as well.
How can I tray to reproduce what you are having could you please elaborate more?

I will check the model and let you know... The midi in and out from my Yamaha N12 run to a TC Helicon voice works processor... ( disconnected at the moment) and my midi keyboard runs from a USB midi port... I do run four monitors.. Two off the onboard Video card and two off my NVidea card... All seemed AOK before the C7.5 installation...

I have been asking for indexing in the Manual for almost 12 years. I gave up eventually.
One of the first things I noticed in the Manual when I starting using Nuendo...
I guess with pdf and searches it isn't that critical, but still.
it needs proper indexing....

If you have a function switch/toggle/button, something that the user must select an on/off or other, in the GUI in the OPERATION of Cubase, it needs to be indexed and detailed. Like the "ASIO Latency Compensation" toggle. Like the "ASIO Guard" function. Like the "Activate Steinberg Power Scheme" function. And probably dozens more I haven't run into. Yet.

It is not impossible. It simply takes time and attention to detail. You're talking to someone who used to index real books.

That Steinberg has not done so shows what a shoddy, unprofessional operation you have become, from your software to your documentation to your customer service.

The fact that that "ASIO Latency Compensation" is not in your "Knowledge Base" also speaks volumes.

When opening the Cubase 7.05 "Operation Manual" from the "Help" tab from within the program, there is no "search" function.

You people at Steinberg have done a TERRIBLE job on Cubase 7.

Yeah, not adding "ASIO Latency compensation" to the manual's index is absolutely unforgivable.

If you hit Ctrl-F while reading a .pdf, it brings up a search function. It is native to the .pdf reader or browser, not to Cubase. I think this is what he was referring to. It is super helpful (I would say essential) when trying to navigate a document as large as this manual is. Hope this helps you out.

Guillermo I have a new mac pro and I'm about to install Automap server for my Novation SL MKII for C 7.5.1.

Are you saying that I should avoid Automap now? Is there a general performance issue with it? Is Novation aware of it?

Thanks. I just want the best setup because I really need to stop all this configuration and actually get some WORK done.

Hello Contour,

Regarding your questions:
Are you saying that I should avoid Automap now?
No, as I mentioned in some cases.
It was some isolated cases on Windows 7 64 bit and running Cubase 7 64 bit and some 32 and 64 bit plug-ins on the same project.
Where the Automap wrapped plug-ins where not loading, like if the system had ran out of Ram.
Is there a general performance issue with it?
The only issue we are aware of is:

https://www.steinberg.net/en/support/kn ... ation.html
Is Novation aware of it?
Novation is aware of this, but I do not know if they are aware of the case I first mentioned.

I guess as you are on a Mac you shouldn't have problems with it.
I am not saying that Mac is better (not a Mac Vs PC post, please) just that in this particular case I haven't seen that ocurre on the Mac.
