I haven't tested it with Bitwig, but IMO SW needs to be redesigned for touch screens.
Many things that work well with mouse and keyboard do NOT work well with touch.
You need to leave more space for UI items because your finger tip is much less accurate than mouse pointer.
etc.

Well I've been using both Maschine and FL Studio just fine with a touch screen. That's why I'm asking.

Sure, there are compromises to be made but they are much smaller than you might think. FL Studio already supports pinch to zoom for instance and it works brilliantly.

For Maschine the touch screen is mainly a supplement to the controller and as such it works brilliantly.

Anyhow, was just curious if it works at all.. Personally I think it's very short sighted if they haven't taken touch screens into consideration. They will be very much the norm in the not too distant future. Heck, it's almost difficult to find a laptop now that doesn't have a touch screen so not using this feature is a bit of a shame really, if that's the case.

I tried Ableton Live in a Windows8 laptop with touch screen and I like using it with mouse much more.
Surely touch screens are very good for some uses like allowing several X/Y-pad areas etc.
I've tried such midi controller SW in a tablet and it was quite nice.
But for most computer use I prefer keyboard and mouse.

I also prefer using the mouse and hotkeys...

I find touch screens somewhat clumsy and they frequently don't do what I want on the first try. If I am 'grabbing' a control, there is no tactile feedback that I am actually engaging the control the way I wish. I found touch screens to demand more mental attention to make sure I am actually doing what I intend due to the lack of precision. And they suck when you want to type something like a track name.

I would say for DAWs, keyboard rules, trackpad second, mouse is in the bin and touchscreen, well, no idea how I would use one. I have a little 7 inch tablet, it's not bad for reading the Bitwig manual in bed. The funny thing is though, when I do that, I turn the pages with a keyboard!

I think you have free remote display apps (that put the pc screen in your tablet and let you control it) if you want to try it.

Not sure how they are called but if you try them please post some impressions I would really like to know how they work.

Mouse in the bin? A mouse is far superior to a touchpad, as it allows you to control cursor position and several buttons with one hand. You can't do that on a touchpad.

You mean like Touchable? It's not for me. I can see they might be useful for some people. My eyes are quite bad so I need a big screen.

Seems ok, but have you got a specific test?
Nothing specific in mind.
But I would like to know if I can run Bitwig on a low-end PC.

So, I read that Bitwig doesn't support multiple VST outputs. Does anyone know whether there is a plan to support it, and a date for it?

I own an NI Maschine and a couple of VST plugs with multiple outputs and the this will prevent me from buying Bitwig. A shame because it looks very amazing.

Another question, does anybody know whether Bitwig plays well with UAD cards and their latency?

I saw a screenshot about selecting tags when saving presets. Can some beta tester tell whether those tags are fixed or user definable?

I just stumbled across this video from over a year ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oohJkiwkhA8

Have you guys seen this? What the hell? There is a group track right there in the middle!!! Why are people reporting that Bitwig does not have group tracks if they had it implemented over a year ago?
