Exactly. I have no idea, what was the point to exaggerate lows so much. Btw the album is rated 4.5/5 on discogs and has 4 392 862 plays on last.fm. Makes you think.BERFAB wrote:It sounds just like when you pull up next to some backwards-baseball-cap kid at a stop light who's blaring stuff so loud that you can hear it over your own system...even though you both have your windows rolled up.
Maybe that's how we should mix from now on--next time I pull up next to that kid, I'll hand him my track and ask him to play it.

What's wrong with naked woman? It's a pop, not porn after all.DuX wrote:Appalling. I absolutely agree with most of the comments and the one about naked women and music especially. Anyway, it sounds muffled and distorted due to overlimiting and there is too much sub indeed, but not as much as I expected by your description. However, it sounds like cr*p. errrrrr I just threw a look on my VU meter, it doesn't move at all! wtf? Is it broken?
edit: I played some good old Depeche Mode from 1990 and the VU meter works just fine.
LOLWHAT? How much is total overkill in your opinion? From commercial tracks of course. This one is just bassiest I've heard!DuX wrote:and there is too much sub indeed, but not as much as I expected by your description.
Yup, totally agree, man. But I'm wondering why it was made like that? It's obviously was intended. Can't believe that high budget studio with top engineers can do this by mistake for extremely costy album. So, why this was made, what for? Optimized for some shitty devices with lack of bass?DuX wrote:The bass frequencies down to around 80Hz are alright [interesting, that's usually the crossover frequency for the sub speaker], but from there downwards it sounds rather ridiculous, especially around 50Hz. That's why the bass range sounds so strange and "bloated" and it also contributes to the song being perceived as muffled and the lack of any transients whatsoever certainly contributes to this impression as it's also so overlimited. It would probably sound better with a 2-pole high pass filter at 80Hz...
I just tried listening to it with a 2-pole butterworth HPF@80hz, not so bad any more. But it takes away too much from the kick bass frequencies. It's just that the bass is mixed completely wrong. Those 50-60Hz on the bass sound are killing the whole mix. In short, absolutely krap job.

Totally broken mix, what do you think?
