Basic db question.

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

Hello,

can anyone give me a link or something to read about dB in DAWs? Why is -10 dB Louder than 0? Whats the relation? I hope you know what i mean!

Thank you!

-10dB is quieter than 0dB. wikipedia article will give you enough information.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

But to get an idea what it can be used for you also need to understand your Metering system.

not really understand, where do you got those wrong information?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

The relation would be apparent, if we'd know the used type of metering.

-10dB RMS can be louder than 0dBFS peak maximum (where the RMS level can be -14dB).

So of we assume that the -10dB are the average loudness level, and 0dBFS are the maximum peak - then we know "why" this is the case.

Else, it's just a guessing game.
