Hi,

Recently went to Cubase 7 from Live 9 and it's made a new approach to production more accessible in terms of progressively layering as I sequence rather than a more loop based approach I used in Live. Plus I can use my HW synths to greater flexibility.

Could I have thoughts on this into sample in terms of A: how it currently sounds and B: Where to take it next, the intro dictates something progressive and laid back but I'm pining for something more uplifting and euphoric (think modern Above and beyond stuff or Orjen Nilsen) but think I am going to struggle with that kind of direction change from what I have thus far.

It may be quite bass heavy as have a real DSI Evolver in here(thundering low on it) and only mixing on pair of good cans which have limited low down response.

Many thanks

Agreed that the intro is quite chilled.
But if you drop it back to silence for a split second you could bring in a strong euphoric lead with great effect
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Hi,

Thanks for your input, I've been working on it this afternoon - it's still got some way to go in terms of volume balancing and fx, EQ but i've created an uplifitng (ish) melody to go along with it.

Gets a bit messy at the end as need to sort the automation

Nice, i think you should bring in some claps/snare in the intro with a little percussion and make the bassline more prominent. Then have a big downlifter and take all the drums out and just leave the pads and bring a smooth bass in for your breakdown, then build it up.

Listen from 2:50 onwards, it breaks down beautifully and i think that would suit your track aswell.

I listened to Take 2. It sounds very smooth. 8)

I don't know much about trance but I thought the synth bass and snare drum could both be louder, especially the snare.

Certainly sounds trance like to these uneducated ears. The pads are very nice and the variations keep it interesting! Well done! :)
