Can anyone tell me if the preset packs available for Synthmaster will work with Synthmaster Player?

Also, I have not been able to find a useable manual for SM Player... where can I find it?

Yes. As they wrote here:

KV331 Audio has released SynthMaster Player and SynthMaster Player Free for Windows and Mac OS X Audio platforms.
SynthMaster Player is a simplified version of SynthMaster targeted at musicians who use presets rather than create their own during music production. Specifications of SynthMaster Player are:

Available in VST, AU and RTAS formats (AAX support coming up shortly).
Comes with 600 presets selected from SynthMaster's factory library. (beware: only 150 presets for the free version)
Users can edit 12 easy parameters assigned by the sound designer for each preset.
Users can turn on & off effects assigned by the sound designer for each preset.
Users can purchase and use preset banks released by KV331 Audio.

There's no PDF manual for the player. Even after installation (in fact there's no need since it is of very basic use).

Just wondering how I load in the preset packs... or is it automatic during the install of sound packs?

You just put them (after having unzipped them) in the subfolder "Presets" of the folder where you installed Synthmaster (or Synthmaster player).

The application immediately rescans the folder if you quit its browser and get back to it.

No need to quit totally the application.
