Doug1978 wrote:@ Kain - are you talking about the same Aloysius as the one here at KVR?
If so, how come he doesn't know you?
If you're talking about a different Aloysius, can't you see how that would cause confusion?
(And why can't that second Aloysius promote his own music?).
If you're really trying to promote someone else's music - for the good of that person (rather than the result being a lot of sceptical musicians) - then you're making a very ham-fisted effort of it here.
No, that's just a user here with the same nick name. Read the first thread I made about Aloysious, the link is in the opening post. The Aloysius that I am a fan of replies once in that topic on the last page. I never looked at that original topic after I posted it ... but then Aloysius was wondering why one of his songs suddenly had 2000 views on soundcloud ... and we found that my original topic now had 186 comments ... for some reason. Then he made a small reply there.

I still don't understand why Aloysius (nice name, BTW, is he Bavarian?) cannot post his song in the Music Cafe like everyone else does... Or is it to give people more food for bashing?
For example, nineofkings is 17, too, and posts his stuff himself...

He posts his music mainly at the Image-line forum, I think his forum account has 500 posts and his account here has 4 or 5 I think.
I agree with most people here .. also about not respecting dynamic range enough. But when you are 17 you just don't have the mixing skills yet to get EDM songs promoted without compressing the shit out of it to make it sound loud.
So it's a bad think ... but the youngsters that only know this type of music (poor guys) kind of expect it to sound this loud.
Anyway .. I am harmony and melody driven and that's why I like Aloysius music ... the sounds .. the mixing .. he needs to learn a lot. But I could hear his musicality in his first tracks and I think that has great potential. All the rest gets picked up on the way.
KVR all about plugins? That's like a cooking forum where people get annoyed when you talk about how tasty your favorite food is. "Dude, here we only talk about ingredients".
Some people like jancivil have responded very aggressively because they are in the unfortunate position that not many people like their style of music. I have listened to many of jancivil soundcloud songs ...and the atmosphere and dynamics is very nice. But it's kind of unstructured experimental music .. there is no story being told. Like the atmosphere of a group of young people around a campfire in the rockies ... without somebody telling a good scary story so you all the girls have a reason to hold their guys.
There are millions of people that make music behind their computer. That's a good thing and and a bad thing. Yes it does lower the overall quality of music. But I don't care about radio or mtv .. I find all the good music on soundcloud .. where I decide what to listen to. Not money deciding it for me.
But even more ... I get involved with it! That's f**king nice.

How do I know about this song?
Well Jeanette found my music on soundcloud and started singing over some of my tracks.
Here is an example

You see, I am one lazy music making mofo ... I just make music because composing gives me joy above everything else. I don't owe anybody finishing my songs ... only the music itself maybe. 90% of my music is just me composing behind my piano .. nobody hears it but sometimes my afk friends. I don't ever want to be on stage in front of people. I don't need or want fame ... but people enjoying my music also gives me great joy. That's what music is all about for me. Drop that crappy pretentious attitude. Now I can't talk with Ferry Corsten (my favorite in trance) on Skype ... but I can with Aloysius.
But ever since I started dumping every unfinished song on soundcloud I got so many reaction of other composers like myself. So now I love soundcloud because suddenly I got all these responds to my crappy music (crappy but with potential if I start doing a real effort).
Now I have a mix of my favorite trance procedures (Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, Airbase) and of beginning musicians, producers and composers with the same passion. In my soundcloud stream.
It fricking rocks, and half the music I hear in my stream maybe is like an unpolished diamond ... it does not matter much to me. I hear right through that.
Sometimes I get music in my stream that annoys the shit out of me.

And then I just remove if from my stream and carry on.
Soundcloud is like radio or mtv where I decide what music I want to hear and then also discover new music that I never knew I could like. And then get involved with the people that make it. Heaven.
One more Aloysius song, my favorite.

I think I will convince my RC heli buddies in calgary to team up with some dancers and create a music video with lots of planes and heli's moving on the rhythm of this song. (and cute dancing girls, ofcourse)

No I’m from London; I took the name from Sebastian’s bear in Brideshead Revisited. Out of curiosity, what’s the link with Bavaria?
It's not that I don't post stuff in Music Cafe, I just don't really frequent KVR at all.
EDIT : Quote seems to be borked, I'm not sure why :/

Hehe ... this is Kris Weston ... unlike some other people claiming to be a musical genius (like all of us) ... he has a wikipedia page. The guy remixed for U2 (and others)bailees7irish wrote:Share your music link?codec_spurt wrote:V0RT3X wrote: Last but not least...
I am not a EDM producer, but I do listen to ALOT. I like the genres and would like to someday produce "crap" like deadmau5, skrillex etc because i think it's a fun style.
I'm up there with Kruder and Dorfmeister and Aphex Twin.
Not that I knew who he was ... but I was curious for his music after that statement.
Must be cool if you know you don't have to spam your music because people can find it just by a google of your name.
Kris, I am so sorry for you that these new generations of people listen more to EDM then to the style of music you love and make.
I bet musicians that were born 30 years before you felt the same way about your music.
Musical preference is not absolute ... the brain only cares about patterns. When your brain gets exposed to enough of the same patterns it will starting to favor those above others.
So I can totally understand why you don't hear the same thing in Aloysious (or madeons) music as I do.
You see I only like a few electronic song from between 1980 - 2000 in your style.
So what will sound generic to you sound very nice to me because I prefer the new EDM genre over the old stuff.
But I do acknowledge that the electronic music in that time was a lot more harder to make ... and took a greater effort and skills.
Because of computers ... these musical tools are cheap and take less of an effort and so they lower quality.
Have a listen to Adam Szabo his modern keygen music. How do you feel about that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUNpdVfuYPk
Edit: Hey Aloysius , remove the = from the quote, does not work here.
Also hope you are not to ashamed by my shameless promotion for your music.
I am listening to Adam Szabo's Arcade right now ... .boy do I want to make music like this.
I mean I think Ferry Corsten is the best trance producer in the world ... his out of the blue was the first trance I played on the piano. But I love to see EDM (I don't like that we call it like this now .. but I guess it's better than Americans/Canadians calling everything techno) go more in Adam's direction.
So there is a challenge for you! (But I know this is not your favorite style)

@Kain
I'm sorry to disappoint you but codec_spurt is NOT Kris Weston. He's only a fan of him and lives on the same small island called UK...
But Kris Weston has a KVR account, too...

Oh ... because he linked to Kris Weston his blog in his signature ... I went through codec_spurt his KVR history but could not find any song ... which made sense to me if he is Kris Weston.
Sorry! Carry on! (lots of name confusion in this thread)
Can we still hear some of codec_spurt his music? I am really curious now.

Because Aloisius is a famous Bavarian musician (book title translated: "A Munich guy in heaven"):Ainch wrote:No I’m from London; I took the name from Sebastian’s bear in Brideshead Revisited. Now have a harp as the lead in your next song and posts it around online Munich communities for maximum name confusion!
And please bring back the teddy bear! I don't care what your mates say: I liked it.

In the vast spawn of time the next big thing means absolutely nothing. He who goes for fame above all better learn how to preserve feelings in the past for the future. All I am saying is (in the original topic) : "hey look I was surprised to find a beginning producer and enjoy his music as much as I did. I think he is something special based on my soundcloud experience and believe lots of people will enjoy his music in the future and his future music in the future after the future"

- and a happy person posts that to a person? You don't know me. This is not the first time you've taken a pretty scanty opportunity to say some personal shit to me. I have things in the world that I'm not tickled pink to see and I said this, this time. Are you familiar with the context? Have you noticed a moderator deleted one of these efforts which try to court that previous attention? It's perverse attention-whoring, and I still have the same disposition to it.bailees7irish wrote:I'd be willing to bet that you are a very unhappy person.jancivil wrote:That's some story. What happened was you presented someone that some people did not find very special, or at all, as "this guy has something really special". People found their own problem with what you actually said, in the title. It is bizarre that you would say it was about the 'title' of the thread as if that distinction makes any difference. You seem to want to redeem yourself through another gesture, which tells me that you realize you're full of shit with this whole approach and at the same time you don't have enough regard for the room not to insult our intelligence some more again.Kain wrote:Last time I posted about him ... I (apparently) was a little bit to pretentious in my title ... but still honest, really! But the post divided KVR in to two camps and a debate was started ... about the title
KVR has kind of 'two camps' anyway, people that came to music through computers that did not do music before that, and people that came to the tech after being musicians and a lifelong interest in it. Not that there has to be such a bright line, but this kind of issue brings that out, you did not create anything by posing that to us. There is no controversy, you had a guy that isn't specifically so happening, yet some people objected to being blunt about it, and/or identified strenuously with that level, and chose that side.
Go help the guy that wonders how it is people don't care about his music! This is a very self-involved bit of shite you're pushing on us here, we've been here and done that, you know. Let it go, the people that were put off by it are not going to be persuaded into another POV by this, I assure you.
Anyway, you sure showed me how to be a dick, isn't it.
