YOu know. When I was a teen, I started reading SHIELD, only because Jim Steranko was writing and doing the artwork.

There were NO post teens in SHIELD, and they were a super secret organization, like a sci fi James Bond.
It's been Disney-ized.

This is what SHIELD was....
It was ahead of its time.
Now, it's a ride at Disneyworld.

Yeah I was into a lot of comics when I was a kid. I agree. Its all glammed up, watered down.
There is something about it that keeps me watching though...

:P

Steranko was a great draftsman - he was shaping up to be the finest comic artist of all time.

Contracted. What a sick puppy of a movie (pun intended)
I liked it. Disgusting.

So Shield is not what the original content creator invisioned. So what. Star Trek was a series of compromises just to get it on the air. TOS was all about compromises. TNG was closer to Roddenberry's original concept and personally I thought it sucked till after he was dead and new writers finally came in giving the characters a more realistic human side. Prior to that they all seemed like cardboard cutout people.

If you tried to retain all the original Shield stuff in a new series it would be more like "Man from Uncle" and no amount of gizmo's or pretty women to objectify would save it.

Continuum starts tomorrow. I don't know if I'm terribly excited. Though the characters are LIGHT YEARS ahead of it, it's very "caprica"ish at times.

First you'd have to find actors who would jump around with their feet no less than three feet apart at all times. And women with big boozums and little tiny pointed feet.

The real reason TV adaptations of comics always ring so hollow is that they don't put much action into the series and comic books are about 80% action. Big action. They could, but I think they don't want to because the television writers and producers consider action beneath them.

Steranko's infamous 4-page spread - you had to buy 2 copies of the comic to be able to see the whole thing all at once. I did.

There's supposed to be a Dr. Strange movie. Makes me very nervous. I was a big fan.
(Now if they ever try a Shade The Changing Man movie.....)
Re Star Trek: Ronald Moore continuously bitched about the constraints Roddenberry put on the series. One thing I liked about Abrams is he dirtied things up. I was also surprised to see his widow in a documentary say that by the time ST:TNG got on air, he just wasn't interested in it anymore. He wanted to do other stuff and felt that was being ignored because of ST.

Man, they are gonna have to be SO careful with a Dr. Strange movie...
That could be a bigger debacle than Daredevil.

They did it in 1978. It was awfully bad - but so bad it was good. Like that 'unreleased' Fantastic Four movie.
Bad special effects? You're soaking in it.....
