i have to return a whole ram kit ( one module is faulty ). in order to stay up and running i have to buy a temporary ram kit which i want to keep using afterwards.is it enough to buy a kit with same timing?

If the timing matches yes it should be OK. People do try to buy matching pairs for a further boost in performance but it is not essential
