I can't get Ctrl+drag to work to create velocity-layered samples. It just deselects one of the samples.
Turning on the velocity-mapping button does do it.
But what am I missing?

Ctrl acts a single add/remove from selection in lists (as per windows standard). Just select the samples you want, begin drag normally, then hold Ctrl down when you release the samples. Presto.

Ah ha!
So it's not Ctrl+drag, it's drag and Ctrl (or Ctrl and drop)
(just like it says in the User Guide, if I had read it properly).
