Postby rsmus7; Sat Apr 19, 2014 3:47 am Need help! Win7 doesn't recognize my BCR2000 anymore

I've haven't used my BCR2000 for a while,
now I connected it again to my Win7 64bit PC
and it tells me "unknown device"
I searched the i-net for a solution,
but didn't find anything usefull.

I can connect usb-sticks to the same port and they are recognized
and I tried different ports on my pc,
front and back too,
to no avail.

Any idea how I can get my BCR200 back?

Try disconnecting the BCR, then downloading and installing USBDeview (link below), and use it to remove any trace of BCR2000* from your system (It'll display a list of all connected and disconnected USB devices your system has, and you can right-click on each and 'Uninstall Selected Device). Then reboot your system, and try reconnecting the BCR.

edit : looks like its not listed by name in USBDeview, try looking for devices with a vendorID of 1397.

Hmmm. Have you got another system you can check it with?

I think it might be worthwhile doing, just to check whether theres something wrong with the BCR's USB behaviour.

Monitoring it with MIDI-OX would be sufficient to check whether it gets picked up as a working MIDI device, I reckon.

I tried it with my laptop,
but there also it shows an "unkown device" ( something with "incorrect device declaration" or so,
I try to translate the german terms)

So, that might tell that the bcr2000 is somehow broken,
maybe it need a firmware reset, but how could I do that without a usb connection?

I already tried to reset it do default,
but nothing changes.

Sounds like it, though it could still be useable via its regular MIDI ports?

Could be a firmware problem. Try midi cables, if no dice, reboot the firmware or do the reset option from above. If it still comes up unknown see if you can find it in device manager, if so update the driver pick the browse option then the let me pick and point it to the correct driver.
A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

I remember someone had problems with plugging the BCR into a USB-3.0 port.
Using the BCR on a USB 2.0-port was working fine.

Otherwise, like Throbert suggested, try using MIDI cables.
There was one case where the USB-ports of the BCR were broken/faulty, but it was still useable via the MIDI-ports.

In general check which operating modes (USB, standalone) your are using on your BCR: U-1, ... ,U-4, S-1, etc. ..
