These permanent in-da-face-kicks are destroying the thoughtful atmosphere, and they don't fit together well with the vocals. You should better remove them and make a nice deep house beat instead!

MUCH better!

Only the chorus line could have a different instrumentation, the other parts fit together pretty well!
