The "FM" and "MIDI" definitely look purple to me. I brought the image into Photoshop and a 5x5 sample (because it's artifacty) gives me 7d7abd.

Clarification #1: I don't care about the colours - just saying I see purple.

Clarification #2: Looking at this image from your comment at the bottom of page 114.

the old free version may not work boots successfully on new generations of computers, instruments, and hardware

I'd love to see that kind of graphical improvement to The Glue...
I forgot to say, thanks to everyone for their input on the gui development, your comments helped me make lots of improvements.

I will be re-doing The Glue as well, I'm much better at 3D now than when I did The Glue. The combination of MOI 3D http://moi3d.com/ for hard surface modelling and and Modo http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/products/modo/ for animation, texturing, and rendering is really good!
Andy, thanks for sharing your tool choices. 3D is something I've been on the fence to learn and with Blender it's pretty steep. MOI looks like it's about the right amount of features, ease of use, and power.

Have you considered Blender3D? It's free. I ask because I'm guessing you did and you settled on something besides, hence you might have insight to share.

I'm really looking forward to the Drop when it's finally born. Your plugins are fantastic!

Hi Andy,

that new & scalable GUI is - don't use that marketing blurb usually - awesome news.
For me and my old eyes the big GUI might get used quite often. Really looking forward. :)

Though I always loved to have Modo (great GUI & Workflow afaik), I had and have to stick to Blender, because I simply cannot justifiy the additional software license expenses for my once-in-a-while 3D doodlings.

I still prefer the original circular shinier big knobs from the current beta, but that's just a personal thing. Nice update! Look forward to the next release.
Thanks for your feedback on the previous gui! I was rushing it and the results weren't so good, I'm much happier now with the look, especially the button glow. Previously the button glow was faked a bit with post processing using a bloom filter, but this glow is done by the new nodal shading feature of modo where I could individually increase the brightness of just the indirect rays to make the glow, which looks much better.

They are mentioned as spread and shift in the manual but labeled as spacing and offset in the Drop itself.
The old gui / manual I had them as spacing and offset, but I've updated them now to spread and shift which is hopefully easier to understand what is going on, if the gui is still showing spacing and offset then I there is an update version you can download.

Don't have the plugin here at work so I googled an image. That was an old version obviously :)
I see you updated them, yes. Also the new GUI looks awesome.

andy-cytomic wrote:I've been very busy re-design the gui (again!). I rushed the previous design trying to get it done before moving, but I've now taken the time to do it properly. The high resolution render looked so good I wanted to somehow bring this to everyone, and with the help of new Juce functionality, I have now done a smoothly scalable interface.
The new GUI looks pretty cool!
I really like the new background surface and the glowing effect on the buttons.
Not to mention scaling funtionality which is amazing!
Only one thing to nag about - the background of the ring marks have weak contrast imho, it's like white lines on nearly-white-gray background. Kind of nitpicking though.
Well, since I'm at it, these purple buttons... :hihi:
Come to think of it - Nevermind, I'd rather play with those new filterz... ASAP! :D
Thanks for the feedback! I deliberately made the contrast low on ring and ring marks, since they are still visible to work with but this way don't dazzle the eye as much with a zillion little lines which looks a bit busy. Not sure what you're talking about with the purple buttons, I've calibrated my monitor and there is no purple at all on the interface, is your monitor colour calibrated?
Okay I see it's a matter of taste with the ring marks, I liked the "crisp" style on the last mockup :D
Like pough already said, the FM and MIDI buttons look purple to me. My monitors are not colour calibrated though if I check the colour in paint, those buttons have a substantially higher Red value than any other blue tone on the GUI. It's not the end of the world though imho it kind of degrades the gui a bit since all other blue tones are pretty cool. Matter of taste though.

This is really important to know that people are seeing this a more blue than red, since that means people are not able to view the images correctly.

The pixels in the raw image themselves are not red at all, but instead more green than red but most of all blue, the average of a 5 pixel area is: 7578b5 (ie least red, then slightly more green, then most of all blue)

Images have "colour profiles" built into them, which are mean to be used to display colour correctly. This is most likely where the problem is. Luckily in the plugin I load the png and display the file myself, so I am in control of how colour is displayed, which is meant to help preserve colours and will since the colour profile is used correctly, but it seems lots of people are not using this profile at all, so the colours are not being preserved:

I've download this application: http://dpbestflow.org/color/color-space ... r-profiles, which strips colour profiles, and I've uploaded the image again, can you please see if this has different colours for you?

Thanks for the clarification. Your machine is distorting the colours for some reason, probably due to not honouring the imbedded colour profile. Please see my previous post for more on this.

FWIW, I'm seeing the purple as well. drop-scalable-large.png and drop-scalable-large-2.png color looks the same to me.

Doesn't bother me but it does look quite saturated on my screen. OSX 10.9 MBPr

Actually it isn't really evident over the speakers, just a little distortion coming through like around 1:13 which is only really audible on cans.
MFXxx wrote:Well my point in sharing was to demonstrate how good the drop sounds and this was made 6 months ago, so can only imagine what the finished products going to be.

Recently sold some waves plugins as I found myself constantly using TheGlue. I would like to see vst3 but I can live with the quaddro sidechain in Cubase for the time being I say ..."it's all good mama, it's all good"...
VST3 and AAX support are on the way as soon as I've finished The Drop :tu:
