Yes they are all mine. What would be the point of using someone elses patch and calling it my own ? Just as pointless as calling someone elses song my own............

No I've never thought about selling Synth 1 patches. I don't think anybody should try to sell patches for any freeware synth. If the developer isn't going to make any money off of his efforts which are far more involved than creating a patch bank then neither should anyone else. I feel especially strong about this concerning Synth 1 as it has such a cult following and both it and Ichiro deserve a great deal of respect.

I rarely set out to create "famous" patches but Jump has always been the exception. That song has a special personal meaning to me.

Not sure what Magnum Lead is "famous" for but I didn't set out to recreate any other patch. I usually just sit down and start tweaking parameters with no real specific goal in mind..........sometimes a bass patch turns out to be a sound effect...........

Chris is there anywhere we can download this patch ? It sounds wonderful. I think I like this one more than the original Tubular Bells in my old DX7. It's one of only a handful of signature DX sounds that I care about anymore.......

Out of respect for the creator of the free synth, I agree, at some level.
Out of respect for the 10000 free patches I don't agree.

I'm also hippie style and everything should be free in this world. Unfortunately, it isn't and time is very precious and a valuable good. So spending all your free time and hours in your love (creating music), can it be validated for free?

I think in this opinion, no artist/creator/worker should ever be payed, since:

• creativity doesn't cost (but it's priceless): thinking and creating stuff is a free process. So why should anyone ask money for it ?! The world is run by creative processes.
• music is mostly consumed freely. (I hear it everywhere) But it isn't. There's big business.
• you cannot get to the bottom cost of the instrument (commodity): many music is for the biggest part created with free instruments, vocals for example
• compared to nature: food grows freely, but we do pay for the creativity of somebody making food from it
• compare it with Open Source, mostly the source is free (php, joomla etc), but many users earn money by creating extensions or templates,... So why should this be different with my musical creativity? I have respect for my own efforts and time also.
• should concerts be free as well? As prices for concerts are getting lower by the year here in Belgium. Or hey, maybe some foreign workers can do the job at 2-3€/h rate, as in many other businesses now. Afterall, it's only music and many can do this job, hahah
• many models are free, as now I'm writing this on a free website forum, hosted on a payed server, many people work to get this all done.

That said, I will offer patches for free, haha
But hey, like you created your nice patches, I'd like to buy you a imaginairy beer (or maybe 2, or wait, while we're having fun let us all just buy rounds )
If I wanted to buy them, instead of downloading for free. Now they are sitting there, I can or may use them when I need them indeed, but there's no much benefits then some gratitute to the name Teksonic, I don't know the person attached to the name.

But instead, when you'd offer them at a small price, say 5$/€ (2 beers), I would have bought them when needed and you would be happy with the many beers probably, so you'd never had to go to bars again Some wifes happy

I think all would be more fair if micropayements were more common.
But still I have a big dilemma about how to run the world: free or payed model, and if payed, how much control on this system?

Beware, It's SynthEdit as basis, so many DAW crash when running multiple instances. You have to check your settings f.e. in Reaper for that.

Reapers Reverb (ReaVerb) is good. Another good free reverb is Ambience.
