I usually google "best _____ vst" to get some ideas on what there is out there. However, Granular comes up with mostly free vst's.

There are thousands of compressors and synthesizers, but such few granular vst's?

Alchemy, Halion, PadShop Pro, Mangle, Granite, Absynth, Kaivo, that German one that sounds like Crushinator. That's off the top of my head. I've probably left about 20 out.

Still looking for a good free granular VSTi. If anyone knows one. :)

Well, it's a pretty niche thing. Until Katy Perry uses one in a song, I don't think you're going to see a ton of them. I love them but even I get as much granular as I want out of Reaktor, Absynth, Alchemy and Granite. The one artist I know who almost entirely uses granular synths makes her own in Max MSP.

Thanks. I knew somebody here would know a bunch of them.

And for those who got Reaktor, there is lots of granular synth ensemble's that can be picked up in the NI database for free: http://www.native-instruments.com/en/co ... /latest/1/

Huge recommendation for The Mangle from me. It may be beta, but it's stable enough for work as it is and is among the most powerful out there. All that for £20.

I'm looking for this aswell, but in sampler form and freeware.

Good software = free = not often ;)

Crusher-X is exceptional - scientific and relentlessly avant-garde, a real one-of-a-kind granulation synthesis engine. The standalone is designed for live performance.

It is not free, it is in fact a bit pricey at about $250 US (179 Euros) to take a leap of faith on

I do not like how the developer does business, however, and that is why I no longer have a current license. I think others have had the same experience and that is why it is not more widely used or highly regarded - or even discussed.

I actually went out and bought The Mangle. Awesome! My only gripe is it looks less expensive when GBP is being used. It's like, only 20! then checkout it's 33 lol.
