De-essers?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I don't record vocals. I make edm ITB. Do I need a de-esser?
In fact, I don't think I've ever used one. If something sounds harsh up there, then I just eq it out. Am I missing something?

Without vocals you don't need a de-esser. But if you have enough time, it cannot harm to experiment with them on other material than vocals. Maybe you'd be the one to find out that they work also great for guitars or synths or whatever...

MeldaDynamicEQ can make a good de-esser, I think it has a preset for that also. Should offer some creative engineering over a one trick pony de-esser also.

You don't need one if you're not working with vocals, but sometimes they're useful to tame harsh sounding hihats or other material with a lot of high end frequencies.
