And I certainly wouldn't put Rooney down as the worst failure on the England team. Not by a long way.

Maybe not, thinking about it he managed to put one in the net, not bad for a striker

So the best chances for the U.S. right now seem to be coming from what's going on in the other match.

Gerrard or Wilshere were probably much bigger disappointments.

...and Ronaldo gives the U.S. a little bit of help. Now, as long as he and the others don't score another 3 goals... :hihi:

England scored 2 goals. Rooney got one of them and supplied the cross for the other. He may not have had a great tournament, but if Rooney was a failure, how should we rate the other strikers and attacking midfielders?

Did Wilshere even play?

I agree with you about Gerrard though, he should have been pensioned off alongside Lampard.

The fact that you even asked that shows how much of an impact he made..

If Ronaldo manages three more goals now, I shall eat my hat :scared:

I don't think you can blame the subs on the bench for Englands dismal failure in the World Cup. I guess everybody wants to play, it's up to the manager to pick the team.

I'm assuming nothing is going to change now. I'd like to see the US get to the quarters, but I think they're going to struggle against Belgium who haven't really hit high gear yet.
