Hi all,

Seems that I am the first who posts the mix for MC02.
Here are the files:
MP3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ras8nvyonzzb ... otonic.mp3
WAV: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yc05d87bxbzvw ... otonic.wav

And here are the notes:

No split of the tracks.

Except Uhbik Reverb and Delay only freeware used.

Drums:
Group with paralle compression and short reverb (ambient mic simulation with "plate" choosed in EpicVerb)
Kick - boost at50Hz and 2.5kHz, reduced at 300Hz. FluxBitterSweetII and classic compressor used to shorten the kick length
Snare 1 – slightly boost at 200Hz, high shelf boost. Added 1/16th mono slap delay with Mono Deleay from Cubase
Snare 2 – parallel compression with dIM_sixtyfive, FluxBitterSweetII, TDR VOS SlickEQ boosting 400Hz and 2kHz. Uhbik-D for FX used two times in the song.
Hihats, rim and brush nothing special – only HP and boosting some highs.

Arp-Bass – Phase problem! The correlation meter was howing "-1". I reversed one channel with Sleepy Times Stereo Channel. Reduced side channels to bring bass more in the center.

Bass_combo – Used GStereo to narrow side channels frequenzies below 200Hz. Boosted around 130Hz.

Arp-Harp – Used GStereo to narrow side channels frequenzies below 200Hz. Used HP-filter and boosted around 6kHz.

FX (Klingon, Reverse and RadioX) – only HP around 500Hz and long Reverb. Some panning automation for RadioX. Klingon got additional stereo Ixoxdelay.

Pads (Gated, Heavenly, Verb funk) – HP filter,

Piano Chords – same phase problem as Arp-Bass. Reversed one channel with Sleepy Times Stereo Channel. Long reverb added.

Melody (Piano) – HP filter, reduction around 2kHz and 4.7kHz with TDR VOS SlickEQ to reduce harsh sound. I added some NastyDLA and did less stereo width with MidSideMangler. Long reverb added.

Stereo-Master:
MQ57 filter for final sound shaping
GClip to cut some peaks
The Span Analyser, StereoChannel and TT Dynamic Range Meter for control.

My mix is quite close to satYatunes one regarding use of FX. Maybe just a bit more dela FX. But I did no big experiment and did not try to give the track a complete different feeling.

Looking forward to all other mixes!

@Photonic - Not able to download MP3 file. WAV file is fine.
I just listened to the mix. You have done an excellent job. The kick has a very good punch, snare is not in your face. Also the delay on snares during the break is a nice touch. Arp bass is well balances so are the FXs. The main melody could have been bit more upfront though, sounds like it's bit buried, just my thought. Pads are so smooth. Love it.

Hi,

I am glad that you like my mix in general! :D
About the MP3. I have my fight with dropbox. I could play the MP3. But this seems only possible while I am logged in in DB. Now on another PC and not logged in, I could not play it too. I changed the link, so you can download it, but not play directly. :dog:
It looks I have learn to handle dropbox!

cheers

Yes! We need at least 4 participants. Otherwise we will have no winner according the rules:

3/4 = 0.75 -> rounded down to "0" :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Maybe they are all still working on their mixes?

I'm surprised that the challenge isn't shared up and down on Facebook, Twitter and what not.
The prices are great, the learning factor was "okay" with the last challenge (ton of info posted, however barely any questions - which makes me kind of sad), the songs so far were great and not the usual stuff.

We still have 8 days. Who knows what will happen the next few or even in the last 48 hours!

OK, here's my entry
Thanks SatYa for such a great track to work work with!

I wanted to keep it laid back and fairly dry in terms of FX/reverb, I tried to separate the piano melody and chords as I thought the interplay between the two worked well within the track

Track notes:
2 reverb sends, one very short room verb for the drums and one longer stereo hall verb for the pads
Kick - small EQ boost 80hz, compression
Hi hats/Brush/Rimshot - HPF
Snare1 - HPF, small EQ boost 400hz, compression, saturation
Snare2 - HPF, compression, saturation, dirtied up a little more with CamelPhat
Bass Combo - Little bit of delay, everything below 150hz narrowed to mono
Arp Bass - Phasing dealt with, narrowed to mono, small EQ cut at 80hz, dirtied up with CamelPhat/Cubase BassAmp sim
Piano Melody - HPF, EQ cut at 350hz, Cubase Envelope Shaper to enhance attack transients and increase sustain, detuned a little for thickness and to separate the sound from the Piano Chords, delay
Piano Chords - HPF, EQ cut 350hz, track copied and panned L/R with small delay for ADT effect to add space, Cubase Envelope Shaper to enhance attack transients and increase sustain, compression, saturation
Harp/Heavenly Pad/Verb Funk Pad - HPF
Gated pad - HPF, Track copied and panned L/R with small delay for ADT effect to add space
FX tracks - small EQ changes only, otherwise just simple panning

Stereo bus - small amount of 'glue' compression, little bit of overall 'ambience' reverb. As far as I can tell everything is OK as far as the loudness rules are concerned
