yeah and then when you want to go back and take them off that is more time you will spend on maintenance instead of making music. Worst is when you want to remove one that required you created its own path and used an installer leaving files all over the place.

Also check out these vst's, I like them a lot:

Been around for years, but been updated often. Seems that vst3 64-bit versions will be available, when synthedit 64-bit 1.2 is stable.

And a very nice free drumkit, too, MDrummer Small which is not included in the MFreeEffectsBundle but to download apart.

Of course among the best freewares, there are also those made by Togu Audio Line.

And the four excellents freewares made by u-he (Podolski, Triple Cheese, Zebralette, and Tyrell Nexus 6).

There are also all the huge synthesizers made by Full Bucket Music.

Most probably not the response you are looking for.

I too was a collector of freeware and then a funny thing happened. I started buying virutal instruments and effects. Since then I've had no desire to download freeware.

Has nobody mentioned Fuzzpillz Oatmeal yet? I think it's still one of the best free synths.

A funny thing happened to me also, I looked in my wallet and realised I was skint and since then I've had a desire to search for as many freeware vst plugins as I can get my hands on.

Yes oatmeal and synth 1 are probably the best freeware synths you can get for free, even though they are old.

Postby BlackWinny; Fri Jun 06, 2014 6:42 am Re: Good free vst instruments & effects HELP!

Here are my best freewares.

In red I have put the environments, the instruments (don't worry if the samplers are called synths, it is by simplification), and the composition helpers. For each instrument, I have mentioned a category as it is on my hard disk. And when an instrument is an emulation I also indicate it.

In green I have put the effects and the other tools.

All these products are among the best freewares ever. The list is long... but it is to let you choose yourself what you will like. And you have at least one link (sometimes two or three) for each products. And some of them, having totally disappeared whilst still very good, are hosted on my depositfiles area (you'll have the link also in the list at their places). I prefer to let you choose yourself (pick at random if you want, but my advice is rather to take your time) rather to indicate simply a few products which could make you miss very good other instruments that you could like by affinity with your tastes.

ZynAddSubFX sounds better every time I use it. Don't overlook it just because of it's Linux-ish GUI.
