BTW. Until this is fixed, make sure you always have a limiter on your master!

heh... the limiters i've tried can't tame these blasts!
i hope this repeatable Kick Synth blowout issue is related to the other 'loud noises' reports from other devices - polysynth, dynamics etc... a few mentions of similar:

I added those.
The built in limiter worked for me - at least it was no longer life threatening and sounded better too
Cheers,
Tom

Just had a blowout, my ears!, first time it has happened to me. Happened on Dynamics and started straight when I changed scene.
Saved the preset https://mega.co.nz/#!MgFznIrb!OUQ-xxhsF ... xogmqkdwtA
I'm not sure how you file a bug report. Just hope my headphones are ok.
It's weird because when I load that preset up on another project, the blue meter showing what's being compressed is straight up like this after sound has played through it.

Hey,
This will help, I use the Ice9 automute on the master, works like a charm. So far no blowout has been coming through.
Save your speakers and download it here:

I was fiddling with the parameters in "polysynth" and experienced a very loud blowout. I am not sure how to reproduce it. I am afraid to use my new monitors now. It was in v1.0.15

Ice9 that Raffi linked above should be a safeguard against that hopefully.
In 1.1 some bugs regarding this phenomenon are fixed AFAIK, but it's always hard to give guarantees.
If you have any idea how to reproduce it or at least what you were doing when it happened, please send them in.
This needs fixing ASAP if it still happens.
Cheers,
Tom

Everybody who has steps and/or projects to reproduce should definitely send them to tech-support every time.
I never encountered it in my own work, not sure how often it actually happens.
Cheers,
Tom

When using the dynamics device, it is generally not a bug - it has two sections, compressor and expander.
What happens if you sidechain it and then you don't feed any sidechain signal anymore into it it - take a look at the settings in the last screenshot,it does what you told it to: it expands. And without the sidechain signal it will not stop.
But as many people run into that situation, maybe without knowing what the "quiet" section (expander) actually does compared to the "loud" section (compressor) we think about limiting the output of the expander device to +12dB or something like that.
Cheers,
Dom

just so you know, the issue i had (see original post) was fixed in 1.0.12 or so.
i've also fallen foul of the Dynamics device blowout, but it's not unique to bitwig; i had the same unholy screech at 2am on headphones with Live's Multiband Dynamics device. also in sidechain mode. it's just a risky thing to sidechain an expander.
good to know that +12db limiter might be added - just need to make sure it actually catches those screeches, unlike the current Peak Limiter device
