The update is almost ready. There're only few things left to check. Now the compressor can be turned off.
How big do you want to have them? BTW, I suspect very large values won't work good with dynamic EQ but I didn't check yet.camsr wrote:I only have one wish for this plugin, to extend the attack time and release time, because it is very small 100ms, 1s

I don't see the need for that, the current range is more than sufficient.camsr wrote:Look great, except I would prefer a red hue

It's easy if you know how

The update is ready!
Nova-67p v.1.0.3:
1. Added compressor bypass parameter
2. Default preset now has stereo mode setting
3. Fixed a couple of possible crashes due to race condition bugs
4. New skin by Lesha

Thank you, Vlad
This skin looks great, and im glad to see Nova67P being improved further.

Thanks for the update VladG.
Now when I switched comp Off I tried the EQ alone, and I must say that it really rocks!
Woow!!
How it is possible that much difference?
You did a great job with this Nova76 I have to say loud!

I've read an interesting article today. Here's a quote from it:xtrax wrote:Thanks for the update VladG.

The article is "The Concept, Design, and Implementation of a General Dynamic Parametric Equalizer" by Duane K. Wise. Most parametric equalizers implement multiple stages
in series. It is possible to put multiple parametric stages
in parallel, and there are claims that the phase profile of
a parallel parametric equalizer can be advantageous
[17].
[17] George Massenburg, personal communication.
Second part is very interesting too:
So it seems a parallel dynamic equalizer should not work in theory but in my case it somehow works and I like the way it does itThe phases of individual parallel stages
superimpose, and this can cause modulation of the
frequency response due to regions of cancellation or
reinforcement. Since the parameters are static, this is
not necessarily an issue. However, the above system
has a dynamic boost/cut parameter, which can make the
phase-dependent modulation of the frequency response
dynamic as well. It is sensible, then, to require that
multiple dynamic parametric stages be implemented in
series.

I checked it a little bit and I see compressor have harmonics, and eq doesn't. That is why I heard the difference.
Form your quotes very possibly Nova could have holes created by phase modulation in some areas but it is very difficult to hear that.
Must be very subtle. However only EQ mode should not be affected thought?

EQ mode must not be affected (according to quotes in my post above).xtrax wrote:I checked it a little bit and I see compressor have harmonics, and eq doesn't. That is why I heard the difference.

I think those holes create very very subtle stereo chorus effect. Because I always hear stereo widening when I use Nova as dynamic EQ and I like this.
Harmonics from the compressor caused by intermodulation distortions (as in every usual compressor). There's no saturation stage in dynamic section.

Hi Vlad, and thanks for this amazing plugin! Really cool to get a split-band compression capable plugin for free.
Here's a couple of usability improvement ideas (not sure if these have been mentioned before):
-Ability to change the selected band's frequency & gain with mousewheel (shift and ctrl as modifier keys?)
-Ability to set different attack/release/ratio settings for different bands
*these could be displayed at the bottom
*displays settings for selected band or for the master band
*better visual indication of the selection of a band
----
And a bug report:
If you tap Alt key, mousewheel stops working on the GUI. It focuses some menu element maybe? Even though I have that option disabled in Reaper.
Looking forward to the GE version. Cheers!
