@David and vic_france
I saw u-he's ACE, but I don't have it. Didn't think that there would be a name collision. Sorry. I'll see what I can do to remedy the situation.

The plugin already has a built in cab sim. We have used an impulse response of an 8" speaker that we thought makes the plugin sound the closest to the original amp. Original amp had a 6" speaker in a semi-closed back cab, which results in a somewhat brighter sound.Compyfox wrote:Anybody nice enough to post some clean audio demos?
I'm more used to abusing guitar amps with a OD/Boost pedal in front if it.
Hence the question.
Oh and... which type of cabinet do you recommend?
If I were to use a different speaker IR, I would go with a brighter sounding speakers. AlNiCo speakers (P10Rs) for the vintage sound or maybe Greenbacks, depending which mic was used to capture the IR I am planning to use. If I'm to use a guitar with single coil pups, in particular P90s, I could go with a bit darker sounding speakers.
Opinion on which speaker sounds good with which amp and guitar differs greatly from one person to the next. The above are my personal preferences. Your mileage may vary.

As far as I know 64-bit Ace works in 64-bit Reaper under 64-bit Win 7.
You should be able to force Reaper to rescan VST directories (Options>Preferences, then select VST under Plug-ins and click "Clear cache/re-scan").
On the other hand if your Reaper is 32-bit, then you need the 32-bit Ace.

I also get an error when REAPER scans the plugin from my plugin folder.
Using 64-bit REAPER with the 64-bit plugin.

After all these weeks, I still haven't tested it properly yet.
But... are these plugins reliant on the VisualC runtime(s)?
If so, which one. As this might solve possible problems.

I can verify whatever toolkit he's using needs Windows to be up to date to run. Since I run updates manually, mine were out of date. After updating, everything was good...

Plugin does not rely on a VisualC runtime. However, Ace requires certain versions of Windows dlls.Compyfox wrote:After all these weeks, I still haven't tested it properly yet.

Thank you very much for the cool amp sim.
I'm not sure that compiling the plug-in to require specific version Windows dlls is a good idea. It's much better to:
A) include necessary dll dependencies within a localized directory or
B) eliminate the dependency and use more generic OOP that doesn't rely on specific Windows libs.
I used to be a programmer, and I'm honestly not trying to come across as a "know-it-all". Support issues become a headache very quickly, and end-user frustration will become routine.
Best practice for a small plug-in would be compile in C++ or C# without too many API calls. Just my old fart 2 cents.

Strange...
I ran Windows update and installed all the updates but still no go.
Still getting an error from REAPER on both this and SGA1566 when it scans the dll
