My Ensoniq VFX returns to the studio setup.
it started to get constant keyboard calibration errors so i retired it.
a few days ago i really started to miss it. so i started searching the net
to see what causes that error. turns out it was a molex connection
that joins 2 halves of the synth's keys. it eventually oxidized and
thus the problems. i hard soldered the connections and behold, no more errors!

i love the transwaves of the VFX. that is its real strength, i always
used it for guitar-like sounds so here is the first song since its been back.

First time we've heard that VFX this year if I'm not mistaken. Gotta love the internet. That's a great square wave lead sound, which reminds me of Pete Bardens' Minimoog from the '70s. I like the way those synths all blend together to produce that '80s vibe. Great tune too.

Good work :)

thanks for checking out the tune, tim... i am on some kind of a retro kick using only my 80's hardware for everything but drums lately!
yes, the VFX was stored away early last year. but i did use a sampled EXT2 synth version of my VFX guitar patch on a song earlier this year "nachos de amor" i just went back and played it to compare and find the original sounds more dynamic and resonant than the EXT2 one.
i dunno, anyone else prob wouldnt even notice the difference. the SY77 still offers alot of power with the mix of FM + waveform memory.
they all get along with a little mixing effort indeed... hahaa

It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

aye folderol o'l chap, long time no comment! :hihi:
i can't seem to dump my hardware dinosaurs. i've read too many stories
where other guys sold their HW synths on ebay, then regretted it terribly :dog:

imho, a harware/software setup is still the way to go... nothing sounds quite like my
AX80, VFX, and SY77 in the software realm!
