Let me start by saying that I still have my Casio CZ-1, and to this day have never found anything like it except another CZ synth. I've tried all the VSTs that use PD synthesis but none of them sound like my CZ.
Is there a true emulation of the Casio CZ synths anywhere? It doesn't seem like this would be a huge stretch to program because the technology wasn't very complex and it was already digital, so no real "emulation" needed.
Man, how I would love to see a CZ emulation on steroids ... Lots of waveforms, FX, and maybe even a few filters added would be spectacular.
Wish i could get this into my DAW without needing the hardware.

I have two CZ synths, have at some point tried different cz vsti's... But I don't know, never really spent much time on the quest...
Try these?

I don´t if it sounds like the real deal but so far my fav CZ Emulation.
Kassiopeia 2.0 for free.
CZ on Stereoids would be Phasewave.

Yeah I'd have to vote for Kassiopeia. I really like the interface. I can't imagine trying to program a CZ without an interface like that.

There's Digits one, although I doubt it will act as a 1/1 drop in for a real CZ. http://www.kvraudio.com/product/digits- ... of-the-jam
There's also an M4L device that emulates a CZ, but you would have to use Live with M4L to use it.

There's a couple of current Novakill synths to be found that use PD synthesis here http://www.novakill.com/killerz.htm Nitrous PD and the imaginatively named Pisscutter plus a whole heap of older PD type synths to be found in an archive that Bones has on his site. They're quite good.
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

Lots of instruments use PD in some shape of form, and many of them can do some similar sounds to the CZ series in terms of basic sound character. Some of them even offer similar CZ-type features, like waveform selection/combination and so on.
None of them are emulations as such, though some are closer than others. I'd love to see a virtual CZ-1 done properly...

How similar is the phase xfer osc effect in Zebra 2? The manual calls it a variant of phase distortion.EvilDragon wrote:u-he Bazille also sports PD synthesis that was happening in Casio CZ series...
Anyhoo, this guy has some amazing sounding tracks and demos made with the original CZ synths:

There's something truly magical about that sound.
