Has anyone tested the Waldorf plugins inside Bitwig?

yes, i did (with the demo version). Already started testing when Bitwig was released.

Generally the plugins seem to be running but there still is a problem with PPG Wave 3.V with patches that use samples (the sound stays muted with those). This also happens with the old 32-bit plugin. Patches that use no samples are working properly.

As in Bitwig plugins do not seem to support multiple audio outputs yet using Attack properly could be a problem, at least if you want to add FXs only to specific instruments like e.g. the Kick drum.

Also using the synths in multitimbral mode (PPG Wave 3.V, PPG Wave 2.V) does not seem to work in Bitwig studio. At least i was not able to assign multiple MIDI tracks to different parts in those plugins. Usually you could asign up to 8 parts.

I ddi not use Bitwig much yet except for testing purposes. i did not find a feature to laod/save fxp/fxb files with the VST2 plugin like it is possible with other hosts. This is quite important for the Waldorf Edition plugins as they do not have a built-in browser like Largo and PPG Wave 3.V.
With the built-in file browser fxb/fxp files do not seem to be displayed when i open a folder with those.
The problem seems to be known for a while now (like missing suuport for multiple audio outs and midi routing):
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5706381

I have just checked again with the latest Biwig Studio v1.0.14RC1 demo version.

Those problems mentioned for Bitwig do not seem to happen with other hosts like e.g. Live 9, Cubase 7.5 (VST2 + VST3 plugins), Studio One 2.6 (VST2 + VST3 plugins), Reaper 4.7, Sonar X3 (VST2 + VST3 plugins) and Pro Tools 11 (AAX plugins).

Yes indeed, this cripples Attack with no way to load presets

This is a probem mostly related to Bitwig, in most other hosts that could load VST2 plugins this problem does not exist as they usually have a feature tp load/save fxp/fxp files.

The VST3 and AAX plugins of the Waldorf Edition do not have a built-in load/save feature but you could import fxp/fxp files by drag & drop from e.g. the Windows Explorer (when the host is started without activating administrator rights for the EXE file). After importing those you could save them in the dedicated file format of those plugin formats (like i have done with the free PPG wave 2.V patches i have published recently at the Soundware sub-forum).

BTW Attack also has several Presets available from the GUI at Presets > ROM (this includes full kits and single instruments).

Hi,

Waldorf has published new Release Candidates for Largo (RC5), PPG Wave 3.V (RC4) and Waldorf Edition (RC3):

Largo:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-largo

PPG Wave 3.V:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloadsppg3

Waldorf Edition (+ Waldorf Edition LE):
http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-we

Like always this was also announced at the Waldorf Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfMusic

There were several fixes like e.g. for the multitimbral mode in PPG Wave 2.V while most fixes seem to be done for the AAX plugins (for Pro Tools).

The bugs fixed for the AAX plugins mstly appeared when using more than one instance of a ccertain AAX plugin. This included crashes when one of the instances is removed and a weird issue where movinga knob in the second instance was also moving the same knob in the first one. This weird issue was corrected for all Waldorf plugins and happened in bot Windows and OSX.
Also some issues with the automation in the AAX plugins seem to be solved now.

I've been testing in the Bitwig demo (on Mac) and it seems to be showing fxb banks but not individual fxp presets in the built-in file browser - not sure why that is. I have been able to load a bank by dragging it from the browser to the PPGWave 2. Can't see how to save a preset though - it seems even vst plugin support is incomplete in this host.

Both Multiple Midi Channels and Multiple Audio Outs seem to be working fine here with the VST2, VST3 and AAX plugins of PPG Wave 3.V. BTW i tested on Windows 7 64-bit, are you on Windows or OSX? In an earlier post you seemed to have mentioned Windows 8.1.

Here are two test projects for Cubase 7.5.30, the first VST2 and the second VST3:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... s%2002.cpr
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... s%2003.cpr

If you click at the dedicated MIDI tracks for the 8 Parts and play some notes each Part should play at it's own Audio Output. The VST2 exapmple uses my own factory bank while the VST3 one uses the default bank.

Yep sorted. Uninstalled, clean sweeped all PPG dll's (which may have been the issue).

Tested both project and all good.

Yep indeed Win8.1Prox64 (apologies for missing that).

Thanks for your help and time :)

Hi,

nice to hear this. :)
It would have been very strange if this problem still happened. I was quite sure it should have been solved.

Anyway some more bug fixes should follow soon while some are for the AAX plugins (so far nobody seemed to have really posted about the AAX plugins here except me).

Hi,

recently i had to work with Pro Tools 11 quite a lot for testing the AAX plugins and finding remaining bugs in those (several bugs in the AAX pluins were fixed with the recent Release canditades and more will follow soon).
For those tests i had created a quite complex test project that includes all Waldorf AAX plugins including mutitimbral modes (e.g. PPG 2.V + PPG 3.V) and multiple audio outputs (e.g. PPG 2.V, PPg 3.V, Attack).
Finally i also added an option to use/record my Pulse 2 hardware synth in that project.

Now i finally managed to record a track with that test project and here is the first try:

The Bright Side Of Waldorf - Part I

Except Attack (which uses a preset drum kit) all sounds were done by myself. All instruments used (including drums) are from Waldorf.
The track uses two Pads from PPG Wave 2.V, two Pads and a Bass from PPG Wave 3.V, one Pad from Largo, a Lead(Horn from Waldorf pulse 2 and the drums from Attack. D-Pole was used at one of the audio outputs of Attack.
The 2 pads from PPG 2.V and the PPG 3.V Bass are from the free bank i published recently:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7&t=418294
The Largo pad is from a free soundset (a patch called "Kiew Mission IW") i had published at the KVR database, one PPG Wave 3.V pad is from my commercial sounbank, another from my PPG 3.V factory presets and the Lead/Horn is is from my Pulse 2 factory presets.
The pad from my commercial PPG 3.V soundset is based on a sample created using the waldorf Lector vocoder s actually all available waldorf plugin were involved in that track.

The Delay for the Snare is the built-in one and for the PPG 3.V Bass i added the built-in EQ and filter drive. Besides that i used several built-in FXs from Pro Tools like Delay, Reverb, EQ, Compressor and a Limiter at the Main output bus.

Here is a screenshot of the mixer display in PT 11 for that track (orange tracks are instrument tracks, violet are MIDI tracks, blue are audio tracks e.g. Pulse 2 and green are Aux tracks e.g. for plugin audio outputs and mix buses):
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... shot_1.png

I admit that i am still working on my mixing skills (in that track the mix is actually it is not perfect yet IMO) and Pro Tools seem to be a good tool for that.
Besides some limitations like e.g. the amount available AAX plugins tha actial workflow seems to be great and doing complex MIDI and audio routings actually seem to be quite simple.

UPDATE:
I re-rendered that track using 6 patches from the free soundset i published recently (2 patches in PPG 2.V, 4 patches in PPG 3.V):
The Bright Side Of Waldorf - Part I - v2

Additionally the Lead patch from the Waldorf Pulse 2 was replaced by a new one created in PPG Wave 3.V. Maybe will include that one in the free bank soon.
This time as external FXs only a Delay, Reverb and a Limter were used (no external EQ and Compressor).

Sorry if this has been covered, it's a long thread.

Does anyone know if CC control of the W/X/Y/Z parameters is yet available in Largo?

Thanks!

No.

Not yet. Maybe they will consider it once all bug fixes are done but i could not promise this.
