There is also a useful Guitar Rig, an Abbey Roads drumkit, and the
Kontakt player is useful enough to justify buying some inexpensive
Kontakt specialty libraries, many of which work for the 15 minute demo
even if they say they require the full Kontakt.

The Reaktor player will switch to 30 minute
demo mode if you load an ensemble from the User Library, but if it
ain't happenin' in 29 minutes, then it ain't happen'in today

You'll defeat any learning curves, while saving up for full versions/sales.
Cheers

On the other hand, I upgraded to 10 Ultimate last year (from 7) so I'm in the same "is it worth it" boat as many of you.
Polyplex seems like a simpler version of S-Layer. Or variation of it.
I'd say it's 8 slightly cut down S-Layer's in one. I like S-Layer, and it will be cool to have a multi version of it.
I didn't notice that until you guys pointed it out, good eye. I agree though, good to have a multi-version.

Found some first videos on these ones:

Kontour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xiPAFoEgvA

Rounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5keNGOem_9I

Polyplex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDfXb0t1jk4

Personally I think Rounds and Kontour could be big hits, in the way Massive became. My first thought was that Kontour in a way seems like the Massive 2 people have been requesting, with all the bizarre amount of modulation posibilities inside, only perhaps more user-friendly and with more visual feedback and smart connection features. And Rounds seem like a dream synth for evolving soundscapes - both feel really modern and innovative IMO, will be really interesting to see what sounds people get out of these.

Polyplex is also really cool, but maybe not that diferent from the ensembles Twisted Tools already have.

Just got my Komplete 10U + keyboard today so have just played around briefly, but watching those videos was pretty inspiring.

Rounds and Kontour are amazing - not really seeing the point of Polyplex but I guess it's OK if you do drums.

btw here's a template for controlling Kontour using NI Kore 2 (a lot more comprehensive than the controls available in Komplete Kontrol):

and here's one for Rounds:

They don't include all the controls in Komplete Kontrol even for the new synths?

The ADSR Kontour video is pretty good, but the Rounds one drove me crazy. It's as if he was making it up as he went.

My favorite part: "A sound block..(long pause)...is...um...(long pause)...the name of the thing that I've drawn a box around with my mouse." Very informative.

Does that cpu meter say 45-48% cpu in the Rounds video? Sheesh.

Actually they do - my mistake - it's just stuff is laid out differently (I have all the main controls on one user page but in Kontrol it looks more spread out)

Well, he's running 96k so that might be why. Says 17-19% in the Dubspot video.

Going to be nice when (if?) Reaktor actually gets multicore support.

Post

Reaktor is unlikely to get multicore support in the sense that Diva or something like that has it. It would break compatibility with existing ensembles, including some of the factory library, which freely route data between voices.

They might do something like giving you the ability to run multiple unconnected ensembles in one Reaktor shell, and it would assign them to different cores, but you can basically do the same thing already with multiple instances of Reaktor in a DAW.

Post

Reaktor already recognizes multicores (I think if you have multiple instruments opened it will assign a core to each instrument - gotta check that though). The problem is that Reaktor Core doesn't support multicore - and most of the heavy lifting by these synths is done in Core...

Post

I really like the idea behind these synths. But I'm not really mad about Kontour at all. For me the sound just sounds very plastic (imo).
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

It does not, instruments can be routed in unparallelizable ways. For example you can send the audio out of a synth into an effect. The output of the effect depends on the output from the synth, so it cannot run parallel to it.

Can't find link for Polyplex download to demo. Anybody?
