Just wondering.... what is the exact difference between this and Wusikstation's wave sequencing? Others may want to know as well.WilliamK wrote:Guys, check this out, some advanced Wave Sequencing on Wusik 8000.

I haven't used Wusikstation for a while now, but I think it is just the manipulation of anything having to do with the sample and putting it in a sequenced order.arkmabat wrote:I'm really lost as to what it actually is.
Is it waves that are crossfaded, sliced, vocoded... ?

Ah yes. I was WAY overthinking it.. Haha

This is something I might check out further.Numanoid wrote:If you got Kontakt you may want to check out Kosmology Awakenings, especially now that it is on sale: http://hgsounds.com/product/kosmology-awakenings/
I keep going back to the Korg WS as the most solid of these.
WusikStation was promising, but had some 'quirks' that made it inconsistent.
(And I'm happier without it on my system now).
But I have to admit, the idea of finding the next wave sequencing with import still intrigues me.

Good question. On Wusik Station and in any other Wave Sequecing synth/vst/whatever ... sequencing waves is done one-by-one. So you have one voice, ping-ponging 2 waveforms, the current and the next one. Now, on Wusik 4000 & 8000, this is actually an Advanced ARP generating notes with extra info: sample-layer, volume, pan, ... so the result is as polyphonic as the layer allows to. Crossfading is done on the envelope instead of an XFade option. So the result is far more complex than regular wave-sequencing.Examigan wrote:Just wondering.... what is the exact difference between this and Wusikstation's wave sequencing? And here's another video of Wusik Station V8 advanced wave sequencer in action. Hope you guys like this one, as it was really fun to play with this patch.

BTW: Wusik Station V8 Wave Sequencer is also Polyphonic, so you can do much more complex transitions compared to any other WSeq styles...

Signal and Orbit both seem to be streamlined/specialized wave sequencers. Obviously not as versatile, but perhaps worth mentioning.

If you are a Kontakt 5 user check out my Kosmology scripted instruments which are based around sophisticated Wave Sequencing. Both the Multiverse and Kosmology products include Kosmology. It has 8 completely unique instances which can be switched in real-time via a designated midi octave. Each instance has 5 assignable sequencers with a choice of 46 destinations, plus control over 48 parameters.
Kosmology
There is also a free lite version which includes samples from across the range.

Ah, my bad, I was thinking Signal rotated between it's four rhythms in a similar way that Orbit rotates between it's four sounds, but, yeah, it does appear to be different.

Crystal can do wonderful sounds like synth or pad, morphing into running water, then into harsh unfiltered synth and so on. I think it is very good for a free synth.

I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned Rob Papen's Blue 2 which has an excellent Sequencer capable of wave Sequencing. If you could add your own samples it would be even better.
