i am looking for a simple OSX host that allows me to...

-route midi (have 60 key midi controller and a hardware synth connected..
-assign VST instruments and MainStage 3 to those midi channels
-assign several VST effects to the VST instruments

i would prefer something that looks like a mixing console

Piz MIDI plugin collection http://www.thepiz.org/plugins/?p=pizmidi

A great combo (imo).
However it doesn't look like a mixing console.

Minihost Modular http://www.image-line.com/documents/new ... 1391136116
is another host option

Can garage band not do most of that?

garagaband does not support VST, only AU

Garageband or does not support VSTi, thats the reason of the question in the first place...

And FL studio which i have licensed on Windows does not work under OSX...

Those two hosts look really good, espescially the 2nd which could be part of FL...

reaper is free to demo indefinitely. Try that.

Reaper isn't free... but it's what you should try. It's all I use.

Mulab should do the job, or if you want to stick with garageband you can use the AU version of Minihost modular to host 64bit VSTs.

There is no such thing as "demo indefinitely," since using Reaper without a license doesn't restrict access to any of the features like other daws. If you continue to use it you are just "using" it.

Minihost Modular is a separate app; not requiring FL Studio, and works in Mac OSX

Why? It's a full fledged sequencer and far from simple (as the op requested). I got the impression the op was looking for a simple plugin chainer and MIDI router.

Thats correct, reaper is totally oversized for what i am looking for, just a simple host, because all the sequencing will be don on my hardware.. I just want to add VSTs and effects, and controll them trough my hardware and my Macbook in a live situation...

I dont see any reason to get a fullfledged DAW.. And if i wanted a DAW for live use, it would either be Live or FL studio 11( which is not available on mac)

Have you tried the free version of Usine Hollyhock ? you can route what you need , works with Midi buses, support AU and VST , 4 different racks
