Actually I have about 50+ synths left! Sorry, we haven't run out :)
But please cross platform (win/osx) synths only ...

Hey what about using Dexed (dx7 emulation) freeware synth next time maybe? Would be curious about deep programming fm synthesis sounds. It also seems to be able to import dx7 sysex patches.

Win: http://le-son666.com/software/dexed/dexed-0.7.0-win.zip
OSX (only vst): http://le-son666.com/software/dexed/dex ... sx.vst.zip

There was a FM synth not long ago: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-63-vopm

I'm sure it can be added to the list, though. :)

Sure is so 80's ... still have my trusty DX-11 by my side. The internal battery died but got a new one on fleabay and replaced it - that was heckof a pain to dismantle and fix, but it's just fine. Nice MIDI on it and the aftertouch is nice to play with too!

Nice, I bet the keyboard is far better than everything from today. Do you have a song where you used it?

What is this DR good for? The higher the better?

EDIT: Oh, found a mac version: http://www.dynamicrange.de/sites/defaul ... or-MAC.zip

Yes, it's to counter the 'Loudness War' and ear fatigue connected with too compressed audio etc:

It used to be a requirement to include the DR number when entering tracks in this competition, but was later dropped and now just voluntary.

It's the overall dynamic range measurement of the track, by whatever algorithm they use. Basically, close to 0 you have no dynamic range and everything is squashed to the same volume the whole track. So, generally, the higher the "better", yes. Although I think at about 10, you have a fairly high dynamic range throughout the track, so anything over doesn't really add much to the listener. At 4, things are pretty overcompressed... something like that. I'll shoot for 1 with my track this month!

I've already played a bit with this DR meter. When you run it as VST you can always see the current DR based on the difference between peak level and RMS level. I've not yet understood how the global DR (for the whole track) is calculated.

But maybe this should be discussed in another thread. Back to Synth1 please.

HeHe Z! Wham Bam, Ouch my ears! :help:

The DR for my Synth1 track is 11, so that's perhaps just right eh? :tu:

At about 10, there is a fairly large dynamic range, reasonable amount of volume variation. Modern electronic music can have a DR of 4 or so, depending on the genre. :)

I felt that, in the absence of being able to add vocals to the song, it seemed a little 'samey' throughout, so I threw together a 8 bar break section and have inserted it to add some more melodic variety...
