mind you...
not getting rid of the original eeproms. everyone says the sounds
are 'weird'. and they are if what you're wanting at that time are/were
808-ey(909-ey) phatt drums. so i sold it first time round, and the hr16b
black one. regretting it very much later(now) and now maybe having
a slightly more mature taste in kick drums
(no but i was getting some very serious bump going before i changed the
roms as well...)

(waffle) no but get another one, really. nobody wants them now.
i see them as just after the Yam RX's in terms of drumbox evolution,
nicking some of the operations and speeding it up a bit. you can
really work with it, and then stick patterns together into a song
very quickly, nothing to it.

Benny at our shop bought one and performed with it last night. He's loving it and finds it super fast to use. He's using it for making samples, as well.

I was pretty excited for this until I started hearing about issues with the bass synth tuning.

I don't know if this is something they can address in revisions, if they even do any. But it certainly put me off picking one up.

Nasty. The pitch offset of the first few notes wasn't a big deal (guitars on many of your favorite albums are this far off) but that octave C isn't acceptable.

First we'll test his tuning. If his is defective, he'll want to know, too.Ashe37 wrote:I wonder if its a 'real problem' or just some mis-adjusted trim pots? Lets ask Benny if we can take his apart.

thats awesome! i had and HR16 before the SR, but i destroyed it trying to fix a intermitten short in it.mztk wrote:
so i got another HR16 last year much cheaper than last time, and
just recently put a 3rd party EEPROM set in it with sounds from DMX/
SP12/SP1200/Linn(s) etc. and it is killer now. thinking of getting the
Burnkit2600 set too if he' still doing them.
yours sounds impressive with the updated roms. i am sooo jealous!
