I've uploaded a new beta build of String, version 1.14.8, if anybody'd care to give it a try. This fixes some host compatibility problems, mainly problems with resizing the UI when browsing presets in the FX plug-in.
However, it also has entirely new voice and parameter handling - paving the way for some anticipated new features in version 1.15 - so I'd appreciate knowing that these changes haven't broken anything.

Any problems, or a confirmation that all is well, would be much appreciated, thanks!

No problems on 64-bit Linux detected. Looking forward to 1.15, but... String? I'd rather have a new beta of Aspect! (Just kidding, it's always nice to see you keep them plugins alive )

Thanks. And don't worry, the Aspect update'll be in the coming weeks, it's just that String had the most critical internal changes, and so is most likely to reveal bugs in the recent framework changes.

No problems with the beta so far Colin… (admittedly, have only tested in the latest 64bit Live 9 beta as of now).

I only have an old Windows machine for the next few days, but I actually left a loop going in Live 9.0.2 from 12 midnight last night till 10am this morning, all was ok. I did tweak a bit last night also. No problems GUI held out better than the effect plugins I used in the chain too.
yes, I'm weird
EDIT: 64bit version by the way... Win7 x64

I will download the beta but I am wondering if there are any changes to the audio or fx? Additions or what not.
Thanks for the update Colin, used String on my last track. Love it.

There are a lot of optimisations under the hood, but no additional controls or audio changes (in fact: if any presets do sound different, then something has gone awry!) With any luck though, the next version should have some nice new filters and improvements to greatly enhance String's palette; I just wanted to ensure that the 'under the hood' changes didn't break anything before the new filters are released.
Thanks; much appreciated!used String on my last track. Love it.

so does this mean the new 1.4.10 has the new filters - or is that still a work in progress?colin@loomer wrote:With any luck though, the next version should have some nice new filters and improvements to greatly enhance String's palette

Filters are still a (admittedly, very early) work in progress, so I wouldn't expect them to debut before the next point release (1.15.). 1.14.10's release is mainly aimed at getting the increasingly asked-for AAX version into people's hands.
