Yes... just checked the pre-AES press release dated 10/1/14 (more "or so" than a week at about two and a half weeks, but still relatively "fresh off the boat" and "out of the blue").hibidy wrote:Oh, is that it, it's new? I haven't demoed the plug-ins yet, and honestly, may not for some time.
They only came out a week or so ago, for people wondering why they hadn't heard of them.
Oops... movie about to start... more later (maybe).
I've followed LSR a little, though somewhat skeptically since their free VU meters didn't work out for me on first try, and their other early offerings didn't really grab me enough to demo.
That was four "tubey" and/or dynamics plug-ins, four "single knobbers."
Then interestingly came the API 525 emulation, which gets mixed reviews and is high-priced, in my opinion.
Now Lindell... Tobias Lindell is interesting, too: GS High End forum mod, studio owner, producer, engineer, etc. (though somewhat cryptic and enigmatic).
Anyway, a few things strike me as odd about these plug-ins... though here's just a couple:
1) None of the hardware modules have filters (other than the side-chain HP on the comp), and Tobias has stated that he doesn't have much use for filters in production.
2) The plug-ins are high-priced relative to what I'd expect, especially given that the modules they model are low-priced: $100 for a plug-in version of a $300 module.
They are being well received generally and each plug-in module offers additional features over the hardware.
I'll be watching for sale prices and would probably go for the bundle at half-price or less, given a favorable demo, of course.
Lastly, my top pick for "DAMN GOOD NOT OFT DISCUSSED PLUGINS" are ones that I think theom has mentioned before: overtone DSP (the 500 comp/EQ bundle is on sale right now, too).
