Going modular; what to get?

I ordered a module a few months ago, from a complete stranger in another country who is making a few custom modules. $500 into the ether. The delivery schedule is ... someday. That is a bit extreme, but much of modular is small quantity limited run type situations. Some of the major vendors have most of their products available on a regular basis though.

my advice would be to be sure that you actually like working with a modular - try one out if possible. Saying that the nearest I got was the Arturia Moog Modular before diving in.

Think about the size of the modules, knobs and overall modular. Some people don't get on with the smaller Frac and Eurorack. Others find MU too big.

Personally I'd now find the Eurorack world a bit daunting there is so much choice. Frac is another possibility. Or perhaps something like Cjaman (sp) where it's designed as a single system.

Lots of multiples and VCAs.
