Is there a VST that can add aliasing to my VSTi Synths?

In a thread about the mighty Roland D50, someone complained that it aliases like a b*stard. Well, I like the sound of the D50. Maybe that's because it aliases.

When I search the Internet, I find things like, AntiAlias Etc but never anything to add aliasing in controlled amounts.

So, is there a VST Plug-in that can add aliasing? Free would be welcome, just so I can try it out.

I'm using Ableton Live 9 Suite. Maybe I already have a tool in the standard FX Folder. I don't know.

Thoughts, comments, links welcome...

Every Distortion plugin which uses reduction for bit depth and sample rate should be fine.

Thanks.

Bit depth and sample rate reduction. Ableton has tools for both. I'll try them out. :)

I think you can also manually change the sample rate if you are using samples or as suggested a bitcrusher with samplerate control as well.

I just tried the Redux Plug-In.

Source: polyKB II Player playing block chord stabs.
In parallel: the same Source with Redux FX (and band-pass eq).

Mixed to taste.

The result was fed into Melda MMultibandDelay and then Loomer ManifoldVST.

Destroying the signal a bit and then smoothing it out again with Loomer FX.

I like it. :)

If you like the sound of aliasing, maybe you should try this out.

Seems perfect. I'll give it a go. :tu:

I'll try the TAL Free Chorus for some noisy smooting as well. Could be a good combo.

Update: TAL Chorus is awesome.

I just donated to get the fully unlocked version.

This synth is a great little noise-maker. Great for layers too.

Cool, glad you like it. Here's another good one that aliases.

Excellent!

I used to hate these kinds of sounds but I'm seeing a good use for them now as FX and for contrast to the usual over-polished offerings.

I actually have a full copy of the HSS somewhere. Bought it when it was expensive. I'll have to check my backup folders.

Right now I'm getting a wicked Dial Up Modem Sound and some weird squeals out of Mr. Piz Pro. Great fun! :)

Update: Well v2.1.3 seems way better than v1 of HSS ScannedSynthPro. Either that, or my tastes have changed. Definitely not the only synth I'd like to own but great for colour. I'm sure there must be threads here at KvR where I said that v1 of this VSTi was total crap.

That aftertouch to stretch function on the initial presets I've tried is cool.

Have you tried Synth1? The VA section of D-50 really reminds me of that seriously aliasing synth.

Mr. Ichiro Toda -> Synth1

Holy Jeebus. This thing sounds fantastic.

Thanks izonin

Some say all the Sausage Fattener plugin really does is alias.

Why not play out of tune - that will sound like crap too. :D
