to arrange imported audio

Hello all,
I'm somewhat new to the full version of Mulab 6. I'm trying to add pre-recorded vocal tracks to my session.
I imported an audio file. I want to be able to nudge around the elements in my track with fine precision, such as I can do with recorded midi sequences. However, when I move my vocal sequences around, they snap to the beginning of the nearest measure. Can I arrange imported audio with a finer (intra-measure) precision?
Other functions related to imported audio seem to be strictly quantized in this way, too. Split, for example, only cuts on the beginning of a measure. As a way to work around this general limitation, I tried to lengthen and shorten my pieces so that they would exactly fill the measure that they snap to, using insert/ and delete time slice, but it's an awfully tedious way to go about it.
Can someone help?
Much thanks.

In the lower left corner (where it says bar - beat or
displays a time signature) there is a little round yellow circle.
If you click on it (so it doesn't light up),
then you can freely move audio around.
