So, the most popular ones are modeled after famous hardware, this is not surprising, but still fascinating, how people generally prefer what they already know.

The synths of Chris Kerry (Flexoid, Wide Boy etc.) are missing in the list as well as the synths by Ugo (M-Theory etc.) and the synths of DeLaMancha! :o

Those you mention ain't 2014, they were just released free in 2014.

I thought obxd was boring-I went through all the features, and it was very basic, that's all you're going to get out of it. It sounds very good, but even if you were playing fast the sound itself wouldn't interest me.

I could see how a female might appreciate it more.

Most popular ones will be the ones which people have already tried, which will be the ones which're most commonly-known, which'll be the ones which people can pin a tag to ie. in this case preexisting hardware, hence this entire poll is a feedback loop.

Both OBXD and Dexed were developed, as it were, here on KVR. Many of us participated.

So some of us have an invested interest in these. So, in a way, we are voting on our own synth.

what is RedOsc?

Post

I think that the two that get more votes really get them because they stand out, and not only because they are emulations. If they were emulations, but not really good, people wouldn't vote on them.

Best teams are the ones with the best players, which are the ones with more money, and they are the ones which win the titles, therefore, win even more money. Hence, all competitions are a feedback loop.

I'm talking about football here

I'll be watching the votes anyway, just in case I missed something unmissable.
Must be nice to have so much disposable income. (slow clap)
It could be the fact that I have made music for over 20 years and have therefore accumulated a few things over the years.
Or it could be the fact that I primarily uses my hosts' build in effects, 2 synths and a couple of more plugins.

Or perhaps the fact that I don't have any hardware apart from a MIDI keyboard and that all the money I do use on music gear goes towards software.

just wanted to add, i knew Ragnarok would come in at a very respectable 2nd or 3rd because it is a fine piece of software in its DSP coding and graphic design
