Xoxos Elder Thing can literally do monsters, its not free, I think the demo has birds or Pokemon guys that jump on the gui.

Try the old favorite, SynCModular (freeware now) and get a hold of the SynDream ensemble by Gabriel Landini. It's capable of great creepiness. Great synth.
