Perhaps we should ask a mod to rename this thread "Everything but the kitchen sink" because that's what you've turned it into lately, guys...

Can the kitchen sync to host?

yep. and is indeed a cpu muncher - it's the 'effects' at the end.
gets up to 50% quite quick haha > bad polyphony management ;)
just did it with 16 presets for some reason - tried to do some
nifty combining of control cvs, so that everything could have the
same list of targets, but it sometimes steps, as one modulator
drops to zero.(do i really want to go back and sort it all out? not
really...)

oh yeah i remember: and the font display is wrong on other machines.

I just want a simple pleasant looking interface with an intuitive sequencer and many great sounds/kits, and preferably no unusable sounds/kits. I'd pay for something like that, but there doesn't seem to be anything!
Look at VSTPlanet and VST4Free.
If they have products that you can't download, tell us... probably that we have them and will be able to make them available for you.

EDIT: this one (LiveTweaker from ODO) is off the beaten tracks. It's not a "gem from the past" (it's not discontinued) but it is a nice freeware among the others, with some distinctive features which make it a bit different (it is all-in-one a drum sampler, a drumkit sequencer, and a bassline synth, and all that with variations available in your sequences).

But it will be nice to try!... and at least play around with it to find nice sounds for improvisation solos if not in a mix.
Thank mztk!

Another drum step-sequencer which is not a "gem from the past" but quasi-unknown at KVR: It is freeware. The link to download it is at the bottom of the page, not at the top!

Note: the two links at the top are for two other drum sequencers from the same guy but which are paywares. The first link is obsolete and I give you the link to Archives.org, and the second link still works.

Second note: I have never tried this freeware.

Yes Drew. It is interesting for certain things which have been abandoned.

But my french friend Benoit is still very active, with several brand new synths and effects this actual year, notably Horus MK II, Selena... and IO which is all a collection of effects having all a huge feature very rare (I let you discover). And almost all the old synths which are on these two Archive pages remains alive with new updates on the current website. Benoit is extremely active today in 2014.

Anyone have a good suggestion of a free VST synth that is a good emulation of a Korg (DW6000/8000 or Poly800) ?

Synapse Audio had Poly 850 and X-Poly but they are no longer for sale...

There's this http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/downl ... ware/Poly/ but I think is for Mac... :(

If you have Reaktor: Morg Poly 700 i.e, Korg Poly 800

http://www.native-instruments.com/en/co ... show/3031/

Clone of the Korg DW-8000

http://www.native-instruments.com/en/co ... show/5953/

Probably others too.

A few years ago there was Cobalt, from Leslie Sanford. It was not a true emulation but very similar to several Korg DW-8000 features:
http://www.matrixsynth.com/2008/01/lesl ... t-vst.html

There is for Kontakt a (free!) sample collection of the true DW-8000:
http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2011/06 ... alex-juno/

Here too (the same as above if not available):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/s3w9l ... x+Juno.rar

And some other samples here too:
http://www.vst-synthesizer.de/category/downloads/
(and samples of the Mutable Shruti, of the Roland VP-330, of the Roland D-50 (a very long collection), and of the Oberheim Matrix 1000)

Except the latter, all that is free (the Cobalt was not, it was sold at $25).

I believe that the DW-8000 is the most requested in the Korg forum to become the next element of the Korg Legacy Collection.

Hi all,
I don't have Reaktor, nor Kontakt, etc., I'm looking just for a standalone synth (not for Mac). If Korg does create an emulator though I'd be a potential buyer!! :) I saw a used DW6000 for sale the other day, how tempting....
