hi,
I own the upright bass from orange tree samples but don`t think it sounds too good.
Now I´m thinking of getting this one:
Straightahead samples
http://straightaheadsamples.com/shop-2/ ... head-bass/
sounds good to me! Can anyone recommend this one?
or the one from acoustic samples
http://www.acousticsamples.net/bass/akouskontr
sounds good to me, too..maybe a little more "compressed" in a way?!..

Hmmm, I think OTS upright bass sounds quite excellent...

I have to agree, though I do like the sound of all the Straight Ahead Samples stuff. Not sure the bass offers much more than the OTS one though. Maybe different miking?EvilDragon wrote:Hmmm, I think OTS upright bass sounds quite excellent...

by the demos I'm a lot more convinced by the Acoustic Samples. I would have to know that Legato Mode switching is automatable.
That is not a Kontakt instrument. I would investigate further, I'm fairly impressed by Straight Ahead in their brush and mallets, which I acquired.
I'm using VSL Upright bass. Promo price 56 euro. Vastly more powerful interface.

Can I ask a user of VSL Upright Bass whether it is possible to extend the range of this bass instrument down to D. (jancivil perhaps ?)
I have listened to the demos on the VSL website, and am quite impressed by the tone. I already have the OTS Pear Bass which does tend to be a bit bass-heavy for some of my needs, but the VSL Upright would nicely compliment my tonal choices, as it is actually a sampled 3/4 size instrument with thinner-than-normal two lower strings.
Thanks for any clarification.

I'm also quite liking the sound of MODWHEEL's The Lowdown library.
Depends on your taste in bass sound a bit I guess, since it's a bit more "sound design-ish"
