Hey Guillermo, i'm interested in buying the UR12. I'm just wondering, why the decision to build in RCA outputs, and not TRS? I always thought that that was kind of the standard output if you want to use your monitors. My monitors have TRS and XLR inputs, so i'd have to buy, or solder an adapter cable, which of course is a bit unpleasant. Was it a matter of space on the back of the interface that it was decided to build in RAC outputs? Oh, and is the sound of the interface the same as on the other interfaces in the series, the UR22 and UR44?

Hello,
Best regards,
GN
TRS is a standard for higher priced interfaces The sound of the interface is the same as the UR22 and the UR44. It was decided to build it from start with RCA outputs. If you do not want to compromise in that area I will recommend you then to get the UR22, but there are plenty adaptors from RCA to TRS.chk071 wrote:Hey Guillermo, i'm interested in buying the UR12. Hello,
Best regards,

No, you need to connect it to a power outlet using the provided 5V connector.BiancaNeve wrote:Can you plug a mobile battery into the new 242 interface?

That's not true.Guillermo Navarrete wrote: The sound of the interface is the same as the UR22 and the UR44.

UR22 has Cirrus Logic CS4270, while UR44 uses WM8728 + AK5359.
UR22 and UR44 are completely different animals.
It's highly strange reading this from Steinberg official.

Hello,
Best regards,

And your ears can tell the difference? Both have 192Khz audio converts, and unless you either work at Yamaha Japan or you have opened both of them you have no way to know. Let me find a screw driver and I will get back to you.sempondr wrote:That's not true.Guillermo Navarrete wrote: The sound of the interface is the same as the UR22 and the UR44.

Those who compared them side by side could tell the difference right away.Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hello,

Actually, that's why they decided to look inside, since the difference in sound quality was so obvious.
Don't bother looking for screwdriver.

Got my UR12 today. Unfortunately, right from the start, i get audio dropouts. I tried a couple of things, like plugging the audio interface to the rear USB ports, instead of the front ones, changing the buffer size, and changing the USB energy save settings in the Windows energy options, but nothing helps... the issues seem to be well known with the Steinberg USB powered interfaces: https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewto ... 57&t=96319
Edit: The UR12 works perfectly on my laptop... now if only i knew why it does those dropouts on my desktop machine, which i mainly use for making music...

Never tried the UR12, but I did have the UR28M and UR44. Both worked without issues on my home-built desktop connected via PCIe USB2 card. This was on Win 7, then 8.1 (Haven't yet made the jump to Win 10).
