Not the best quality but you can at least hear the SuperSAW waveform with Glide and ARP.
Only the SAW waves turned up in the mixer, no SQR/SUB.

And just the DCO, no filter added

never really heard a supersaw on the 60 or 106 tbh.
is it not doing that nice hollow square juno sound?

Post

Yes it does.

But people don't want to hear that as a selling argument.

The SuperSAW thingy is just a Unison addon to the original DCO.

unison on the 106 is a mono mode feature that stacks
up all the voices together giving a more powerful note.
i'm not really into the 'supersaw' really, i like my juno sounds
really defined and clean, bouncy. i think that is precisely
what the selling point is. can we have a demo of that?
don't get me wrong, i think a small desktop juno is what the
world needs.

i'm not trying to diss this, just don't tell me junos are about supersaw
(which i have a particular dislike for, i hate (ibiza)'trance', that's where the
expression 'it's all gone a bit pete' came from.

i've been playing with the KSRack past couple of days. now that's a synth
that gets a slagging, quite unfairly, bcs it's a really good unit, and can do
so much of what a juno does -and can probably do trance too, no doubt
often used for it- *although* that 'washing machine' bass sound, no i haven't
quite got that out of it yet, but there are sign of hope. meh, i'm
not even sure it really comes from a juno, always wondered about that.
in any case, whoever had to concede the KS on ebay for 113gbp, *thank
you*, be assured it went to a good home and appreciative owner :D

me again...in best etc. - i've been reading up on roland filter chips
past 48hrs, the ir3109, quad OTA with BA662s etc, all new to me
really - because i don't actually think those filters are all that, the
one on the 106 isn't *that* special- i evn used to think what if it
could have another filter switched in?(not possible). people will
think it weird, but when i lent a 106 to some mates for a session,
they were slagging it, calling it 'boring'.(i put that down to fastbuck
lack of taste, and the record wasn't that great anyway)

i think you want to focus on the speed of the envelopes. this is
what gives the sound real energy.

for instance, the minimoog has just about the fastest trigger time
around @ 1ms, whereas the mks50 is at 7ms, and the ju60 also 1ms.
that arp on the 60 is *banging*, it really drives, and is part of the
charm of that machine.
granted, you say there's no filter in your vid. that will make all
the difference. i'm sure all VAs are really low compared to old
analogues flipping their voltages.
(hey what i want for xmas is a 3u rackmount juno...)
(don't need one, the ks is it)

There is no filter included in these demos.
And the filter is a digital DSP based filter and not analog as the original.

But the envelope is 100% analog and I can assure you that there is no 7mS delay in the attack.

It is instant or as fast as a 100nF cap can be charged to 5 volts. :)

And yes, the supersaw is a substitute for the chorus as I don't have one.

:) sorry i was a bit grumpy there lol

a ju kind of chorus is quite easy with a coupl of delays, modulated
by a triangle, one side inverted, just adjust the rate+feedback, and
select a couple of depth options. you can get a rough approximation
like that, does the job.(found with a bit of mucking around in SE)

I'll make some better demos during Xmas, lined with both reverb and delay as the dry sound of both this and the 106 is quite boring (unless unisoned, chorused or otherwise spiced).

And I'll publish the schematics for those that like to hack and build themselves.
