Hi there,
Finally got CrusherX for the Mac and have been learning how to utilise its power.
I've been going through the help and watched Simon Stockhausen's videos 1 + 4 on granular synthesis.

There are a couple of things I know I haven't worked out yet.
1) How do we assign parameters to the PM Field?
2) What does the Sweep function do when compared to the Speed?
3) Where does Overdrive fit into the signal flow in comparison to the filter?
4) Does the overdrive spline (editable in the Vapor section) specify the overdrive amplified by the overdrive offset? If "yes" how does the overdrive modulation effect this and is the offset summed with the signal or is it an like an amp envelope?

5) Am I correct in thinking the Cloud Modulation is like a Global Modulator?
Thanks in advance. Such a great variety of nasty noises i'm getting!

Great questions, thanks for asking! Let's try to clarify:

The parameters modulation mode is selected with the Mode selector in the Vapor Modulation Panel independend for each parameter. Here you can choose the X/Y PM-Field as a source for modulation.

Sweep determinate a changing pitch-shifting during the grain is alive. Positive values increases the speed during the grains lifetime, negative values decrease the speed. Use this to "wet" the sound! Longer grains will sounds like water drops with Sweep amounts different from 0.

Yes, the filter is wired after the overdrive to allow filter sweeps with the overtones generated by the overdrive.

No, it is a bit more advanced: The overdrive section applies for each input sample an output sample that is defined by the overdrive spline table that is editable (press button “Drive” in Vapor panel). This is the amp envelope. The modulation affects the linearity of the envelope. The spline is morphed between the full (red) distortion envelope and a linear one. 100% means full application of the envelope (red spline), 0% means a linear envelope. The current applied spline is shown in blue. The white arrows indicating the current applied transformation. Take a look at the blue line in the drive spline edit window while moving the overdrive offset parameter fader:

Got it. I was looking for a separate menu somewhere but I see it is a modulation source like an LFO or envelope in each of the main parameters.

OK I can hear what it is doing... it's something like a pitch jitter and works in a much faster way than the speed.

OK it reminds me of a waveshaper!
