I was a fan of Joe's music since i was a child. In the 80s my mother (she died in 2005) who work at a music managment company at that time was on tour with him in eastern germany (before the reunion of germany).
We lost one of the greatest singers of all time. I am really sad at the moment...
RIP Joe
PS:
In my free soundset for PPG wave 2.V/3.V that i published recently i had creteda patch called "N'Oubliez jamais" that was inspired by one of Joe's songs.
Here is the thread with the free soundset/patch:

This is a video of the song (i guess the title of this song also fits a bit to this loss...):

Here is a nice concert from last year:

I was never that impressed with his later output, but his late 60s and early 70s material was just great, along with the 'spastic' vocal delivery. When he was on form he was really good.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

That's sad, he was a good singer with an inimitable voice...

For me, Cocker did a number of "definitive" versions of songs already made famous by the original artists. I'm thinking of "The Letter," "Unchain My Heart," "Cry Me a River," "Feelin' Alright" and, of course, "With a Little Help from My Friends." There is a very special talent to that.

Never liked his flat music to be honest, never touched me in any way. He even seemed a bit ridiculous to me
But of course I'm sorry to hear he had cancer
