What are .failed files and why do I have them?

To install the latest RC I renamed my CustomPhrases folder as a backup and let RC install create this folder anew. Then I copied all of the files from CONTENT_MelodyGen_ChordGen_Presets.zip and CONTENT_CustomPhrases.zip into my new empty CustomPhrases folder. But after running RC I noticed I have the following files in my CustomPhrases folder,

BeatGM_Chill01.rcPHRS.failed
BeatGM_Jazz01.rcPHRS.failed
BeatGM_Jazz01_DoubleTime.rcPHRS.failed
BeatGM_Jazz02.rcPHRS.failed
BeatGM_Jazz02_DoubleTime.rcPHRS.failed
VocalRhythm10.rcPHRS.failed

and, the referenced phrases are missing from my phrase browser.

Any idea why this occurred and how can I fix it? Also, once fixed, should I just delete these .failed files?

Yes, I just realized these files are empty (you can open them in a text editor). Chill01 can be recovered from the Chill template but I have to ask Chris Caulder if he still has the other five phrases in a composition file somewhere. You can delete these files.
