They run that scam world-wide. All their profits are apparently made in little offices in tax havens.Kaboom75 wrote:Because they don't pay tax for all their European sales.ATS wrote:Apple has so much cash on hand it is silly.

uh, Chris Randall's tweet reads like an obvious joke. I hope people aren't actually basing their feelings on that.spaceman wrote:Indeed, good on them. They're talented developers and nice people on top of that. They worked hard for years on their products and they deserve their good luck, if the rumour is true, of course.samsam wrote:Cheers. If it's true, good luck to them.tooneba wrote:https://archive.today/PZhkjsamsam wrote:Tweet gone. What did it say?jackmazzotti wrote:https://twitter.com/Chris_Randall/statu ... 4844059649

Alchemy still works for me, used 2 instances on a track this weekend.
I worry that someday, I'll get online, Apple will reach out, and the next time I load Alchemy it'll tell me to go buy a Mac and delete itself!

Apple and every other company selling product in multiple countries. Rank capitalism allows it. Whatever they can do, even if it's a loophole around intended effects of laws, they do until someone stomps the loophole. Only non-US countries' governments seem to have the sense to reel it in. Then Americans bitch about it. Actually, some Europeans bitch too, even when they're getting a direct benefit of both stronger consumer protection and tax laws to ensure their countries are taking proper income from foreign companies. But probably more bitching in my country, where rich republicans and libertarians slam any person on social services as "entitled" (the hypocritical irony is grotesque) and complain about taxes to no end (rather than complaining that their military eats the majority of their tax dollars, not the social safety net they despise for not being personally needed by themselves).egbert wrote:They run that scam world-wide. Sorry. I got off track here. What I meant to say was:
I heard down the pub that Camel Audio's assets were all seized in a fully armed CIA raid, due to their invention of a new pro-user copy protection scheme using privacy-focused encryption of user data that the CIA couldn't crack.
Or maybe it was that the anti-privacy bastards in my government are like spitting camels on crack having seizures or something. I'm not sure; had chips in me ears again. Really gotta see to that eating technique of mine.

Isn't it on the retailer to eat any loss? They bought product to resell. I don't know how software retail works.tooneba wrote:another cunning tweet trying to trick creditor into believe they are still running. Even local distributors haven't realized Camel Audio has discontinued business and still selling boxes. And buyers realize CA is discontinued eventually and return their boxes. Local distributors will have to contact CA to be repaid obligation. Then finally they will realize it turned into bad debt.

Chris Randall is definitely an afficionado of the joke tweet but you need to scroll down and read his other comments, they are pretty serious and matter-of-fact. Definitely can't write this off as an obvious joke.Arglebargle wrote:as far as I can tell the only thing that exists is a joke tweet by Chris Randall.Neon Breath wrote: at all who think Apple has something to do with this.

Not to mention the circumstances are definitely peculiar, unique, and similar to apple's history of company buyouts. Nobody can say for certain, but the apple theory can't be just written off given all evidence. It is definitely a probability.
