Why don't they make fully fledged jupiter-4 or jupiter-6 (I think roland Promars was like one voice version of the earlier jupiter polysynths, no?). Anyway, I was not too impressed by the authenticity of their emulations judging by the sound clips (I own sh-101 and sh-09 myself). Maybe if they make demo versions I will make comparison side by side with the plug-ins. They didn't sound bad but not better than Tal emulations or such
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Not quite. It is very close to the JP-4, but has some differences. It actually has two oscillators plus the sub osc for its monophonic voice. I always wanted one even though I have a JP-4, SH-09 and MC-202.

The oscillators are described as 'dual osc' On the panel and their waveform and pitch range are locked by one set of controls, but you can detune the second osc to fatten things up.

I imagine Roland will have to create a four or five octave System-2 for polysynth emulations. I'm still to be convinced that Roland really pay attention to the details of their emulations as much as the software companies do.

Wow, so that's three now. Way more than what VariOS got. ;-)

Love the SH-2 plug out, never heard of Promars before tho. Looks quite similar as mono dual osc. Will have to investigate..

Actual ProMars sounds very sweet, I must say!

Indeed :)
Really nice sounds.

Excuse me a noob question:
Where the keyboards on these analog synths also shiftable in octaves, or is that purely an invention of the digital age?

Post

A lot of them had octave switches, yep.

The... Echo/reverb- somewhat ruined the demo IMO. It's like putting on way too much cologne!

Just got a mail notification from Roland that the Promars plug-out is now available at the content store: https://contentstore.roland.com/aira/

Um, yes they do - especially in the low end.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

That sounds absolutely amazing... I wonder how the emu will compare to the hardware.

Looks like they have a demo on their website now at the bottom. I'm going to have to try this when I get the time. http://www.roland.com/products/promars_plug-out/

Yup, this time with trial version. Can't wait to get to the studio! :)

I'm curious about your findings Urs .. Judging by the audio demos I was not so impressed with their previous emulations, I mean they're ok and even good but not better than what's out there already (I own sh-101 and SH-09 myself in hardware) ..
