I've uploaded my latest update to the "Xenos Soundworks" factory patch set. We've hit 128 patches at the moment, and I made a few edits on some of the existing patches.

Xenos,
Thank you!
You can hear my original music at this link: https://www.soundclick.com/artist/defau ... dID=224436

Could I get some thoughts on the patches in the "Electronic Dance Music" folder? Really looking to refine/expand my skills in that area and opinions from EDM fans would be helpful.

Now at 136. The OP link has been replaced with the new one. Looked over the previous "beta", made a few adjustments, then added a few more new ones for good measure.

So many EDM patches for so many styles :D. Can I also just say that the Corrode is AWESOME -- I really like Fabfilter Saturn, but you can definitely get some awesome Chiptune sounds straight out of Hive ^___^.

Any chance we'll see some Eurobeat-inspired patches in this bank? here's a recent 1hr-long megamix for inspiration (https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1 ... zMKtiBpG2Q) ^___^

Gonna get started with that reference link now :). As for chiptunes, I definitely need some more intricate 8 bit stuff using the Arp and Step Sequencer.

Awesome! It's such a super fun, happy style that's been around for decades. It can always do we more love :D.

Hive is already AWESOME for Chiptune, I can tell. Aiyn Zahev actually made a few 8-bit patches I think in his library (here's hoping he makes a full-bank someday ^^).

I appologize if a very noob question...
But I am so excited for this synth and have been testing the beta, but how do I open these patches into the synth after downloading?
I can't fig it out, thank you very much

Here's yet _another_ update to the "Xenos Soundworks" factory patch set. Currently 180 patches. Really like the way this collection is taking shape, so I had to share them. 44 more patches than last time, and further refinements/tweaks on old ones.

Could I get some constructive input on these? Anything you think should be done differently? I really like Hive a lot and want it to be popular. Currently, people are saying the synth needs more "club" style sounds to show off its ability in that area.

On a more personal note, if you are _not_ satisfied with the patches in the link above, please feel free to speak freely. I'm always looking to improve my skills. Praise is good for the ego, but constructive input is how you get better. As I do sound design professionally for a lot of other companies, I feel it is my duty to always look for ways to provide the best content for the users.

Still working on more stuff for the Hive release, so I will definitely take any user suggestions/input seriously. Thanks :).

I'm noticing that you have several lead patches that are just "EDM Lead 1" and so on. What exactly does that mean? is it Trance? House? etc? EDM is an umbrella term, and It's never good for people to pigeon-hole entire styles into a generic term >_<.

Speaking of which, have you made anything for House music? could be Prog or Electro-House, but that's always cool ^^. Electro-Swing is also really popular.

I'll honestly confess...we have ambient/film-score, and various flavor of EDM: maybe Dance or ElectroPop? not everyone's thing, I know, but Pop/Rock is still a niche that I haven't seen ^^;.

One last thing: it may not be a bad idea at all to make some demo-tracks with these presets. Joseph Hollo did that just the other day with another gorgeous ambient track. Giving examples of what, say, a House track or a Trance track inside of Hive would sound like would definitely be a great idea. The OSC (one synth challenge) is going swimmingly and yet, amazingly, there's a scant few number of dance-tracks in any style at all. A few tracks for Hive's page on u-he's website would definitely help the cause :).

You're honestly heading in the right direction and probably showing up the most amount of versatility with Hive, right now :).

Thanks for the suggestions :). They are just clinical names for the big unison leads, and I'll go back and change them into something more creative. It takes time for me to come up with good patch names, and when I get a sound idea, I like to move on to the next patch quickly. Electro-Swing? Gonna look into that right now. For EDM, I usually listen to deep/dub house and minimal techno. Otherwise, mainly dubstep, hip hop and trap for personal enjoyment.

<EDIT>
No way...I can actually get into that style. Listening to a mix on youtube as I type this. I grew up listening to Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, etc. My parents often would head out of town and my grandma would babysit me and my sister for the weekend. She would have those tunes on constantly. I loved it, but my sister couldn't stand jazz. I have 1 or 2 basses already in the download link inspired by the acoustic double bass. I can make up some jazzy synth sounds that would fit perfectly for this style. Maybe some new modern twists on synth brass, saxophone-inspired leads, and abstract synth pianos.

You're doing just fine, Xenos! :tu:
However, it should be much more obvious from the name whether each sound is suitable for Deep House, Tech-House, Techno, House, Electro or Progressive House ;-) (kidding!!)

I'm downloading the soundbank now. Will let you know my opinion after i play around with it tonight.

Holy shit!! :o Confession time: You're one of my 3 favorite sound designers, so your comment really means a lot to me. It seriously made my day! :hyper: I'm not just trying to big anyone up. I'm serious. You're a friggin' legend, man. As someone who truly has a technical knowledge of sound design, your comment carries a lot of weight to me.

As for the sub-genre names, I personally really like the current trend of sub-sub-sub genres. It's a much more targeted and specific market, tailored to specific tastes. While from a musician's standpoint, I can see the issues, but from a listener/non-musician's perspective, it's so much easier to search for music to listen to that is a closer match for your own personal tastes. For example, I am not a huge fan of electro house for listening, but I like a lot of the sound design. Yet, I love dub house and schranz techno for listening. I like brostep, but enjoy listening to atmospheric dubstep more. Clinical and Isolationist ambient are my favorite ambient subgenres to listen to, and Trap is my favorite hip hop subgenre.

All those genre names really makes it easier, IMHO, for finding new music that I like the most. I think these subgenres names really came around after amateurs started uploading their music to the internet in droves. People got exposed to new musical flavors that would have stayed underground otherwise, and people with real talent probably got ideas from listening to amateur tunes.
